Hi, I've never posted on this board before, but I thought this was appropriate for this board.
Scientific studies seemed to have more objectivity in determining the average length of a man's penis.

Well rain dancer you are probably right there. Masters and Johnson found the same thing in their research with couples who were actually making love in their clinic - guys reach their max size just before ejaculation. Can you imagine the scenarios at M & J's clinic? "Um, excuse us but could you two please stop now so we can measure you both?" Talk about coitus interuptus! lol!
Guys do vary somewhat in length due to how full his head is swollen. However, girth does not change that much from plateau arousal stage to full on hard as a rock arousal level - maybe a quarter of an inch around. It's the tunica that is responsible for determining girth. It's like the steel cords on a car tire - it gives the inflatable inner tube it's shape. The tunica is flexible but only to a point and that point is fixed. Every guy has a max girth and a max length. It's ligaments that define a guy's length. They are VERY rigid when stretched. The ligaments are what is severed when a guy undergoes penis length augmentation surgery. For penis girth augmentation sugery they inject fat deposits into the penis outside of the tunica. {I don't know about you other guys but there is NO WAY I would ever do either procedure. I accept myself just as the good Lord made me. And luckily so have the women I've loved in my lifetime.}
Despite the variations in length due to how much the head is swollen, the stretch method gives a very, very accurate reading of a guy's "usual" penis length. Just see the guy's responses so far in this thread if you ladies are in doubt.
You guys clearly have too much time on your hands! :P LOL!
And so once you stretch it out to get the best possible measurement, then what?
And who cares what the measurement is? You're still stuck with what you have.
IMO, any guy who would undergo a painful surgical process to add MAYBE an inch at most to his length, or half an inch to his girth, is just too self involved. THAT would be a red flag to most women.

Hey Kat,
I think it's mostly just to know. Call it curiosity. But yeah, you're right. Not much we can do about it. I also think you're absolutely right, any guy who'd opt for surgery is too self involved (unless of course he's TOO short - micropenis comes to mind.) It's interesting to note that when asked about increasing their penis size most guys would opt to be longer when flaccid than when erect. Locker room bragging rights? I think so.
I honestly do not think you ladies have a clue how competitive alot of guys are in this regard. I have friends who are my size who will NOT shower at the gym and who will only "take a leak" in stalls - never at urinals. They are THAT self conscious about their penis vis-a-vis other guys. I don't care one bit about being naked around other guys. Never have. We've all got what we've got and we're all 100% male no matter what IMO.

I guess as a woman, I just don't get it. I'm not "proud" of my genitals, they're just a part of me, just like my arms and legs.
And since there is little I can do to change my vulva or vagina anyway, I don't worry about them. But I don't think my DH has ever talked about his penis...to me or anyone.
Chalk it up to the differences between the sexes, I guess.
