You got some really great advice from some very smart people it would be foolish not to take the advice.
The only thing that I would add is that frequently when you call a doctor's office for an appointment the person that answers the phone will say the doctor is booked for the next 4-6 weeks. Don't accept that answer. Explain that this is a serious infection and that it needs to be seen NOW. If they won't schedule an appointment that day or the next go to the ER and then find yourself a new doctor.
Good luck
Maybe you and your b/f are exclusive now...but are you sure he has never been with anyone else and you either?
Sounds like herpes to me....herpes has "outbreaks" you may not have this happen again for a very long time.
Even though you and your boyfriend have never been with anyone else, it is still possible that you now have a herpes infection.
Do you and your boyfrien engage in oral sex? Does your boyfriend ever get cold sores on his lip? If the answer to both of these questions is yes, it is possible he has transmitted his oral cold sore/herpes infection to your genitals during the act of oral sex.
You say the yeast infection medication seems to be clearing it up. Keep in mind that a herpes outbreak tends to come and then heal during a 10 to 14 day time frame. That means it may not be the medicine that is clearing it up, but just the natural process of a herpes outbreak. If it is herpes, it will reappear again in the days, months, or years to come.
It is very important that you have a doctor check you out because if you wait on this and it does happen to be herpes, you can then pass it back to your boyfriend... but to his genitals... if you guys continue to have sex.
Please see your doctor for a herpes test and in the meantime, come on over to our Herpes, HPV, and Other STD Message board... I'm the CL over there and there will be a lot of helpful posts you can read through and a lot of helpful people who can give you good advice.
