Post- episiotomy ?

Hi I'm a newbie here!
Sorry to be graphic- but I just noticed something a little different down there.
My youngest is 1 yr- & i just noticed where my episiotomy was - all healed up now I have a little flap of skin (maybe 2cm)that kinda hangs out from the bottom of my vaginal opening? Is this normal? I'm due for my yearly at the of Aug. Any other moms noticed this? No pain or anything- just weird!

When you went back in postdelivery, did your dr. say anything about it? Did you have a forceps delivery by chance?
I did with my 2nd baby and experienced some damage due to excessive stretching from the forceps. If you had prolonged labor, a forceps delivery or a large baby, it's possible that you've had some damage. If things didn't go back to normal condition, postdelivery and healing, then you may need surgical repair, as I did.
Talk with your Gyno.
Did your doctor cut you, or did you "tear"? If you tore, then that's hard for them to stitch back together properly, and when you consider the swelling and blood involve.....that's understandable.
Ask at your next checkup.......it might be able to be repaired.
(My doc told me he'd much rather stitch up a straight cut than a jagged tear, which is why he always cut me before I tore.)
You ask is it "Normal", yes and no. As has been posted in regard to tearing or cut.
I totally agree, it is so much better for the woman to be cut, than to tear, in a lot of
respects.
A tear is very hard to close, and have less scaring. Cut is by far the only way in my
thinking.
As, has been suggested, ask your doctor in regard to this. It is a very simple repair, and
it will help you mentally also.
