Doctors are people.

Welcome to the board, manineedacoffee, and happy belated birthday!

Sakura gave you some great advice, and I totally agree with her about the doctor. They are people to, and they can be judgmental -- although they shouldn't be. I also think doctors find themselves overbooked and try to rush patients through the office -- which may be another reason she didn't take the time to explain things to you or answer your questions. Since these types of infections can have many causes, the doctor should have also asked you several other questions -- like if you had been on antibiotics recently, changed birth control methods, etc.

Usually, if you have a bad feeling about a doctor, your visits are not very comfortable. If I were you, I would look for a new gyn that I did feel comfortable with. I also live in the South, and not all gyns here are judgmental.

You mentioned that you and your BF don't typically use condoms during intercourse. Since it is possible to spread the infection back and forth between yourselves, if you do engage in sexual activity prior to completing your treatments, you really should use a condom. This will help to keep from spreading the disease and having to deal with it for a longer period of time.

Here's a link that goes into great detail that you might find helpful:

Misty and Sakura,

Thanks for your replies, and I am changing physicians.
