problems with shaving it all

Hi,
I recently shaved my entire "nether region", and am having problems with the red bumps and pickiness. Is this something that will lesson with time? In that area right above the clitoris, it feels like velcro when my underpants rub against it a certain way. I have a really hard time getting that spot shaved smooth, so if anyone has any advice, I would really appreciate it. I had it all waxed a few years ago, and I think I may have to grow it back out and go that route if this doesn't get better for me. I really like the "no hair" feel and look, and I hoping I can figure the shaving thing out.

thanks

Hi!I shave down in the same area aslo and what works best for me is I buy the Venus Breeze becasue you don't have to have shave gel and I can get a hold of it better than my fingers slipping. It comes with stuff on the razor and I take a mirror in the shower and pull the sides apart so it gets all of it and as far as bumps go you can purchase Bikini Zone at Walmart. It's like $4 for a tube and apply it up to 4 times a day and the bumps will be gone.I also love the look and feel of the clean shaven look so does my DH.Hope this helps you.

I would absolutely urge that you consider going back to the waxing route. It comes out dead smooth and it doesn't grow back nearly as quickly. Furthermore, it's not sharp and bristly when it does come back, just very soft. Plain and simply, it's just a much, much better way to do it. I was at first embarrassed but they are really professional and they honestly don't judge even a little bit. My $.02.

Hi aubry, Do you use any shaving lotion or anything? I find hair conditioner to work well. I rub it on dry and let it sit while I shave my legs (with a different razor of course), use a sharp blade and shave. I've never had a problem with bumps or pickiness. I shave usually every couple of days. I'm thinking of waxing again, but I just don't want to have to let it grow long enough. That is so much easier and stays smoother longer.

I just used water and soap. I will try the conditioner tonight and see if that makes a difference. How many uses do you get out of each razor?

I usually replace the blade about twice a month.

I have never had a problem with bumps or itchyness after shaving down there.... I only use a razor blade TWICE for shaving there (I have a different one for my legs as that doesn't dull it as quickly). Sharpness is KEY. And I use normal shaving-cream like you would use on your legs - my kind is for sensitive skin and you can get scent-free if your skin is really sensitive to scents. It works really well for me as I am not comfortable getting it waxed. The only downside is that it grows in fairly quickly and kind of stubbly. Use warm water and you can apply some moisturizing lotion or cream after you're done (I use Body Butter) to prevent dryness and irritation. Good luck. I love being shaved!

Have you ever heard of passion parties? Well they sell some amazing shaving cream! That I use just for that area! They also sell some after shaving spray that gives you a protevtive barrier between you and your clothing, which is what causes those bumps, when your clothes rub on it. I swear by this stuff! Give it a try, its not very expensive. The lady that I buy mine from is www.fungirlsnightin.com or you can go search on passion parties. I love the stuff I swear!!

I went in for a Brazilian wax a few years ago, and I was so pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the lady that did it. I ended up getting it all waxed that day, and I was really happy with it. It cost about 40 dollars, and I intended to continue, but it is an hour drive for me to get to this salon. I live in the boonies, and it just didn't happen. I really didn't think it hurt bad at all. I had to help the lady hold skin from time to time, to make sure it was real tight where she was waxing, and it wasn't uncomfortable or awkward AT ALL. I am going to try this shaving thing again for a couple weeks, and if I am not happy with the hassle and the bumps, I will make the long trip to the salon and have it waxed again. It was really nice, because when it grew back in, it was real soft, and not stubbly.

I just finally tried waxing after reading somewhere that sometimes a person has hair that just doesnt respond well to shaving and that was my problem. Not only did I have that velcro feeling you were referring to, but also terrible ingrown hairs, and it itched like mad growing back. I had tried several different methods, but never found one that worked.

I decided to deal with my embarrassment and get a wax job. It didnt hurt (i think that varies from person to person), and I had no ingrown hairs, no itching, and the hair was so soft growing back!! ONly prob was I forgot to tell her to leave a landing strip LOL!!

It was definitely the best decision I made, and it turned out not to be embarrassing, but I live in Europe right now and they dont have so many body-hangups here, which made it a good place for me to start.

I definitely recommend it! I think I read quite a few tips about it here on iV, that helped. I think the best one was to RELAX, then it would go better.
