Proper Penis Measurement

That thread about penis size got me thinking. Precisely how do you measure length? I've pushed the ruler right up against the pelvic bone. Using this method, I'm 7 1/4 inches. I've also measured from where the penis appears to naturally join the rest of my body. Using this method, I'm 6 1/2 inches.

What's the standardized, accepted method of measuring length?

I find the discussion FOLLOWING it completely irrelevant/goofy/weird/childish
---

I meant no offense, but this discussion has been beaten to death again and again here. From the whining towards men/women who say they prefer a larger penis, to another guy insisting that hanging weights from the end of his penis makes him 'better'.

I don't get it really, it's not something that can be changed and every woman I've ever met was more impressed by an honest smile and sense of humor than anything some monstrous penis could possibly provide.

Thanks for your honesty and I completely agree.

The vagina is NOT the primary sex organ for female pleasure, it's the clitoris so all this angst about size really IS irrelevant. Except to those women who feel that a large penis is absolutely necessary to be satisfied.

Unfortunately, many men don't even know where the clitoris is so they become fixated on the size of their penises instead of becoming more knowledgable about female pleasure. It's just easier.

Ha ha ha....so true.

I don't know why, but for some reason this conversation popped into my head when I read your post:

(Guy with average penis AND sense of humor says to woman at the end of their first date after asking her for a second and her accepting):

"So, I'm glad that we are going out again....but there's one thing I have to know....Are you a size queen? Because if you are, I have to run out and buy some weights to begin my daily stretching ritual!" ;-)

Now that's a secure guy with a sense of humor! tee hee

Kat ,I have it figured out.. These guys think they have to be long enough to stretch the back of the vagina (cul-de-sac) because they hear it is the untimate pleasure for women..where do they hear it?..From penis enlargement sites ,I`m guessing. So if a woman is 4" deep or 9" deep ,they feel they are not gifted lovers if they cant please EVERY woman in this manner. My guess is that most women have no idea if this is pleasurable or not because 8 and 9" penises are not all that common. But they do know they like clitoral and g spot stimulation and most any length penis will work for those.

Well, I for one, do NOT find that sensation pleasurable. I'm sure some women do, but certainly not all. It's not a given by any means.

And frankly, I don't think that the majority of men ever give that much thought to a woman's vagina or sexuality, in general. Unless it's how it relates to them.

As I said before, too many men still don't know what the clitoris is for, much less how to find it! IF there was more emphasis on female sexuality and pleasure in biology, I really don't think men would have these obsessions about size. Education from an early age is the key.

Concerning your thread opening question about the proper way to measure - doctor studies measure from the pubic skin to the tip of the penis on top (they don't measure from the side). In the article you linked to it has a typo. It says to measure "...from the public bone" ,and then it says "...but some measure from the pubic bone to allow for the fatpad...". That obviously makes no sense. The way it should read is "...from the pubic SKIN", but some pressed to the pubic bone to allow for the fatpad...". I know of numerous doctor studies and the measurement is always done from the skin, but a few also include the thickness of the patpad as an additional data measurement to include on the report.

Summing the above up: the proper way is to measure on top, from the pubic skin to the tip of the glans (head). I don't agree with this, as it penalises overweight people, and adds to skinny people. I'm not saying this either because I'm overweight, as I'm only 10 pounds overweight, but because it's really not accurate in my opinion. If a guy gains weight his penis is not actually shrinking. The average patpad is about 1". Fatpads range from 1/4" or less, to 2" or more. I measure 7 1/2" bone pressed, but my fatpad is 1" and so my penis looks 6 1/2" long. I was about 20 pounds overweight with about a 1 1/8" fatpad, so I have gained an 1/8" of visible penis just from losing weight, but like I said, I don't agree with this saying what a guy's size is by just measuring from the skin. I'm 7 1/2" dang it! lol.

If you are going to compare yourself to the stated average size doctor reports, you will need to go by your 'to the skin' 6 1/2" measurement, I'm assuming you're properly measuring from the top. The 'to the skin' average length is about 5.5 to 5.75 ". Average girth is a bit under 5". There was one study that is often the only one quoted, and it was 5.25" length. People quoting that measurement have no idea where they are getting it from, they just quote it because it makes guys feel bigger. Actually it came from a Masters and Johnson study done in the 50s. Their's is also the study people love to quote saying women have no feelings after the first 3 inches. Master's and Johnson have been debunked by today's experts, but what they said lives on after 50 years, as it sounds good. Masters and Johnson didn't say women have less sensitivity deeper, they said none, which is laughable. And their 5.25" has been found to be smaller than today's studies indicate. Experts in the anatomy field don't believe Masters and Johnson various "studies", but M&J's results are what's quoted by people who have no idea where they got it from. Master's and Johnson were husband and wife, which hardly anyone reslises. Indications are they had a bias in their results.
