I used to write my 1st BF love letters all the time. I would leave love notes on his windshield and send him letters in the campus mail. Sometimes, he would write me letters back. When we broke up 5 yrs later, we still had all of the letters we shared. His box was significantly larger than mine and I felt like I had wasted all of that time and emotion on him. I was actually quite angry, especially when he sent them to me and I reread some of them. I kept his letters for a while, but eventually got rid of them.

I never wrote another love letter till my current BF. He sent me a few as well. We wrote them at the beginning of our relationship, mostly email. I still have them saved and have thought about printing them up. It is still hard for me to put myself there, to allow myself to let my love and energy go into writing a love letter. But, I think I will start writing them again, though not nearly as frequently as before.

I am a words person, so nothing makes me feel more special than a love letter - not getting a great gift or even making love.

I didn't really learn anything new about writing love letters, my letters always seem to follow that pattern. Generally speaking.

My BF and I had a very intense conversation last night (about where our relationship has been heading and where we want it to go) and I was already thinking about writing one, but the article solidified my decision.

Suki, that's great! I'm glad the article got you thinking about writing letters again. There really is something special about receiving a letter of any kind, but especially a love letter.
