Did you have extra days off this weekend? Other than Thursday, I had to work on Friday.

What was your favorite part of the weekend? Attending the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's concert, and watching the faces of the girls and our neighbors.

It's sad to me because the ones who need the help don't ask, but the greedy ones holler if they don't get more for free.

Asking for help can be daunting. You are so correct here..the ones who need the help during the holidays often do not ask . It is to them I want to give the most.

I am involved in an organization that distributes toys to children in need as well. It has left a sour taste for me at times....for much the same reasons that you list.

I've had to learn to compartmentalize my emotions this time of the year.

Did you have extra days off this weekend? Yes, I run my own business, so I was able to take off Wed thru Sunday.

What was your favorite part of the weekend? Just relaxing with family and friends.

What was your least favorite part of the weekend? Dropping my 14 yr old Dd off at the mall for the first time to shop and see a movie with a friend. She is our oldest, and it is hard to let her grow up.

Did you have a Thanksgiving Dinner? Yes, over my Mom's house, which is our tradition. We had about 25 family members together this year. It was wonderful.

What was your favorite food? My Mom smokes a turkey that is out of this world!

What was your least favorite food? I don't touch stuffing or broccoli or collards.

Did you do any Christmas preparations? Put some lights on the house. I still need to finish that task.

What is your favorite thing to do for the holidays? DW and I go away the week after Thanksgiving to get a good start on our shopping. We leave the 4 kids at home with their grandparents. It is a productive time, and we get LOTS of alone time!

What is your least favorite thing to do for the holidays? I just don't like the craziness of the season. I have no particular thing that I dislike.

Did you have extra days off this weekend?

I took a vacation day from work on Friday.

What was your favorite part of the weekend?

My favorite part was slowing down the pace and spending time with family. It's so much easier to do with time off from work.

What was your least favorite part of the weekend?

Cleaning up the ensuing mess involved with entertaining.

Did you have a Thanksgiving Dinner?

Yes...for 11 guests.

What was your favorite food?

My stuffing is rather good....followed by my gravy.

What was your least favorite food?

Sweet potatoes. I can eat sweet potato pie but that's it.

Did you do any Christmas preparations?

I brought out some holiday pillows for the LR but it's too early for me to feel like decorating.

What is your favorite thing to do for the holidays?

My favorite thing to do is to light a candle, turn off the lights, pour a glass of wine, put a holiday CD in the player, lay on the sofa and just let it sink in...let my Christmas spirit emerge. LOL.

What is your least favorite thing to do for the holidays?

Figuring out what to give people who already have far more than they need. LOL.

Tracy, I've seen that with programs like Toys for Tots before myself. I really prefer to adopt a needy family at this time of year or contribute to a fund that is set up through our local bank for families in need for the holidays.

In those cases, the families are carefully screened and selected. Their stories are sometimes printed in the local paper, and the contributions can be directed to the family of your choosing.
