"I have to say, it was good seing him get his butt kicked last night... ;-)"
Thank was pretty cool. I also liked it when his wife let him know that he couldn't expect her to be turned on by him fighting -- as she may have been able to be when they were kids. Too bad his BIL wasn't a sexy guy -- that might have added another twist for Tony to worry about (LOL).
Yes, Tony is James Gandolfini. I'm surprised you have never watched the show -- having it filmed locally and all. I bet there will be some big town parties when the season has it's final show.
So, do you feel like there is any real life MOB activity there?
Yeah, but at least he got a birthday BJ from Carmella. I never got one of those. Also, is it just me, or does Tony always act like he's having a heart attack whenever he gets a BJ? First it was the stripper in the car, and then, last night, with Carmella. I mean, he doesn't look like he's going to survive it, much less enjoy it.
I haven't watched the show -- just not my cup of tea! But from the clips I've seen and the description of Tony's behavior, I see nothing sexy at all about him.
LOL on the fact that they always seem to use Tony's BJ as a way to make you think something else is happening. With all the thrashing he was doing this week, I thought for sure he was having a nightmare! At least he had a sigh of relief before they showed Camilla coming up from under the covers :D
Rice, I must have missed that part....(I tuned in late), and to tell you the truth, I am not an avid watcher of the show--I watch it here and there. Come to think of it, the few times that I've caught it, Tony is always on the receiving end of oral. Do they ever show him giving cunninlingus to any of the women? ;-) Oh, I just remembered a long time ago (perhaps during season 2) Tony's uncle was dating that sexy younger woman and he loved doing cunnilingus. I remember him telling her to "keep it quiet" (as it wasn't a very "macho" thing to do amongst the gangstas). When the "guys" found out, they made fun of him. I could be wrong, but I believe the "underlying" message is that women are "beneath" men, and are suppose to "serve" men in that culture. I don't know, since I haven't watched it religiously....but I'm curious as to the amount of cunnilingus being performed with respect to the amount of BJ's....or does Carmella just get another diamond bracelet for her birthday to depict reality (tee hee--just for you, Rice) because we all know that most women would choose money over sex. (**rolls eyes again**)
...remember, Rice, when BJ's are a-plenty, getting one on your birthday, makes it just another day! ;-)
...wouldn't that be a good ending to the show....after receiving fellatio, Tony *truly* has a heart attack, but Carmella walks away thinking that he's just being himself! tee hee
Well, since BJ's were a once-in-a-decade thing for me, especially after I got married, getting one every year on my birthday would have been an order of magnitude increase in the frequency for me, although I'm not sure it would have been that big a treat, LOL.
Your reference to BJ's being 'aplenty' reminded me of something I read once. While browsing in a bookstore I came across a book with a title something like 'Affair-Proof Your Marriage' where a woman who was a marriage counselor advised women on things that they could do to minimize the chances that their husband would stray. In the section on men who have affairs because their sexual needs aren't being met she used an extreme example to make a point. She said that a man who received oral sex every day would have little interest in, and energy for, having sex with someone else. I know that she was using an unrealistic situation to illustrate her point, but, still, the thought of getting a BJ every day was enough to make my head spin so much that I had to sit down for a while, LOL.
As far as Wiseguys not performing cunnilingus, I remember the episode where Tony teased Uncle Junior about going down on his girlfriend. I don't know if it's an Italian thing, a Mob thing, a working-class thing, or a combination of all three, but it was pretty clear that they considered 'eating at the Y' to be 'unmanly'. In general, you're right that they appear to view a woman's sexual role to primarily be to pleasure the man. Carmella giving Tony a BJ, however, reminded me of the scene in 'Analyze This' where Robert DeNiro's mob boss tells Billy Crystal that he only lets his girlfriend give him BJ's, and not his wife because "She kisses my kids with that mouth!" LOL
At the risk of highjacking another thread, your question about men being willing to perform oral sex on a woman reminded of something I've been meaning to ask you, and any other woman who might want to express an opinion on the subject. There was a line I heard when I was young that I always wanted to use when I was dating, but never had the nerve to try. I always wondered how a woman would have reacted to it, but was afraid that it wouldn't have been what I had hoped for. If, when you were single, you had been dating a guy for a while and although you had been physical, you hadn't had sex yet and you asked him, as women are wont to do, what he was thinking, how do you think you would have reacted if he had said something like “I was just wondering how you taste.”
I just could see so may downsides to saying something like that and little, if any, upside. There was another line that I also never got to use, but this was mainly because I never thought of it at the appropriate time. It's what Jack Nicholson said to Ann Margret in 'Carnal Knowledge' when, after a very energetic love-making session, as they lay in the bed, sweaty and out of breath, he said to her “I almost came that time.”
