What are your thoughts about sex on TV? More specifically:

On the Today show, which airs in the mornings, there are often polls and discussions about sex. Sex therapists and specialist are often guests on the show, answering specific questions. How do you feel about these discussions taking place on morning TV?

On iVillage's In the Loop (airs at Noon), there have been discussions about sex toys and guests like Dr. Laura Berman have appeared to discuss sexual issues. How do you feel about these discussions taking place on TV in the middle of the day?

From teens loosing their virginity to long time lovers having romantic encounters; from the cheating spouse to the revengeful villain, soap operas have thrived on scenes of complicated sex lives for years. How do you feel about these things being shown on daytime TV?

Talk shows air throughout the day. In the afternoon, just as kids are arriving home from school, shows like Dr. Phil, Opera and Montel Williams love to discuss things that have caused pain in the lives of others. Topics like cheating spouses, teenage sex, pornography and even sexual addiction draw in the viewers. (Let's not even bring up Jerry Springer!) How do you feel about these types of talk show topics and the time of day that they are shown?

Sitcoms play on many of our senses. Friends saving friends from loosing their virginity to womanizing men have all been made into laughable scenes. They're shown at various times throughout the day and evening. Teenagers love sitcoms -- the racier the better. Do you think sitcoms that are shown before 9pm should avoid sexual topics?

Should all the responsibility about what kids watch lie on the shoulders of parents?

Do you think having sex so openly depicted and discussed on TV is beneficial?

Any other thoughts about sex on TV?

I don't think it really matters that much. At least with the iVillage In The Loop, it is discussed professionally and informatively - not in any way that I personally feel inappropriate for any age. Plus, if the parents don't want their children to watch it, then it should be made clear that they cannot view it. I personally think that it is healthy for children - especially for those going through the awkward stage of getting to know what the heck your body is doing and all - to get good and informative information from a show like that instead of just assuming or from their friends. Not to mention, they are just short clips, not entire segments.
