Hey guys,
I'm really hoping someone can help or give me advice on what to do..
In the past week i have had unprotected sex twice, i.e. that we didn't use a condom, however i am on the pill but in the last month i have forgotten to take it twice:( I know this might not matter but he did not come inside me, i know it was stupid and i've been dumb but i'm really frightened now as to whether i could be pregnant..is this possible even though i have been on the pill for 3 years now??

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

It really doesn't matter if you've been on the pill for 20 years. You skipped two pills THIS month, which is all that counts. If not getting pregnant is important to you, then you have to learn to NOT forget pills, and if you do forget them, then use protection for the rest of the month. Skipping one pill can allow you to ovulate, and if you ovulate, you CAN get pregnant. If you had unprotected sex while you ovulated, then yes, it's possible to get pregnant. There is no way to know if you are at this point, until you take a pregnancy test. If that happens again, then you have to use protection, or risk getting pregnant.

Get a test when the cycle of pills is finished. If it's negative, wait a week and try again. You rarely get a false positive, but false negatives do happen. Good Luck!

You can only use that up to 72 hours after having unprotected sex. That's three days....and if it was more than three days ago, it won't help.

If you have a problem remembering your pill, look into something else, like the shots, or an implant.

Welcome to the board goddess_supergirl.

The morning after pill is a consideration if you take it within 72 hours of having unprotected sex. Not sure if that fits with your schedule here.

When you forgot your pills, did you take them as soon as you remembered? How long was the period of 'forgotten' time? Where were you in your cycle of pills? How long between those times and the time that you had unprotected sex? Sometimes, knowing those things can help you a little bit when thinking about your chances of conception.

I always find it easiest to remember my medications if I take them as part of my daily routine. Depending on your age, your routine may vary (like what time you wake up), but you can usually find a "common time" somewhere in your day. With the pill, it's important to take it at about the same time everyday, as well as remembering to take it every day.

When you forget pills, it can affect you for the remainder of that cycle. A lot of pregnancy tests today can be taken fairly early in the pregnancy. Even if you get a period this month, you could still be pregnant, so you might want to consider taking a test to be certain.

Stress can effect your periods too hun and it sounds like you are definitely stressed! Although since modern pregnancy tests are VERY accurate soon after you become pregnant (at least when they say they are positive) I would say you are probably not pregnant. Quit worrying (or at least try) about it for a few days and see what happens. More than likely you are not pregnant but if your period still hasn't shown signs of coming on in a few more days you may want to repeat that test. Pregnancy tests are even more accurate if you use them 7-10 days after your missed period.

Good luck and if you aren't pregnant don't forget those pills next month!
