Hi everyone,

Im new on this board,

I was wondering if you guys can recomend me a good non irritating lub. I have found that soon after my period I get dry and sex hurt if we dont use some type of lubrication. Most of the things we,ve tried are too irritating. We tried Astroglide and it burns both of us. Has this happened to any of you?? I was thinking about using Vaseline but Im afraid it will irritate me too. Im on birth control so it doesnt matter if its a water based lub or not because I dont have to worry about condom breakage.

Please any sogestions on non irritating lubricants that can work on both of us will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the board flipmg2.

I have only recently added lube to my collection, but I haven't had any problems with irritation. Some that we have tried are KY (basic water based lube), KY Intrigue (very nice and silky, needs soap to wash off), WET original (a little sticky), and H2O flavors.

Since you're having problems with irritation, I would avoid flavored or scented types. Vaseline is a bit too heavy, IMO.

You should not use Vaseline or oils (baby oil, lotions, etc)

i use to run an adult store and through my personal experience i have found that eros bodyglide works the best. you only need 2 tiny drops of it and it will last as long as you do. it doesn't have any sugar in it and it was designed for sensitive skin. stay away from the white bottle that says female on it. it was too thick for my liking, almost like hair gel.

Are you using a warming lubricant? I've noticed that the warming lubes do burn!

Silicone lubricants are going to cause the least amount of irritation - just make sure you buy a high quality lubricant. I know that ID Velvet is hypoallergenic as well as Pjur and Eros.

Hey everyone,

Thankyou all for the advice. No Im not using a warming lubricant or neither have a yeast infection. The problem is when Im just past my period. The use of tampons soaks up all the moisture and it hurts if I dont use anything but all lubes that we have tried irritate my skin.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Eros Pjur lube. I know they sell it over the internet but do you guys know any store where I can find it? I looked at Walmart and Walgreens and they dont carry it.

You all have a great weekend.

I know I'm probably going to get blasted here, but my wife and I use vegetable oil, particularly canola oil. We use it mainly as a massage oil on "external" surfaces, but also inside her lips for digital ( we often have digital w/o intercourse) . She uses it on my penis and so it serves as an internal lube as well. We used to use essential scents added to the oil but discontinued this when she had some irritation.

You would have to order that online or purchase it from an adult store, I would imagine. It is sort of a specialty lube, so most places like Walmart won't sell it.

Have you ever thought of switching to a menstrual cup? They don't absorb moisture like tampons do, they hold it. The great thing about cups is that they are not linked to TSS, they don't irritate your vaginal walls and you can wear them during sex. I have been using "Instead" menstrual cups for about 6 years now, and I can't imagine using tampons ever again - unless I'm in a pinch.

I stopped using tampons because when you use them on your really light days or even moderate days, they absorb the moisture from your vaginal walls. So, when you remove it, it actually takes some of the tissue with it. That always caused me lots of irritation, not to mention the fact that the cotton is bleached, which also irritated my vagina. You can wear a cup up to 24 hours, so when you are expecting your period or start spotting, you can use it right away!

I know that is a little off subject here, but just wanted to throw that in there.

Thanks for the suggestion on using the cups. Ive heard about this a while ago but I havent tried it yet. Maybe I should. Im getting irritation with the tampons. Ive noticed it because soon after I take the tampon off I feel really itchy. Before it didnt matter but since I live with my boyfriend now we have sex very often so its not like I have time to let it heal on its own. I will try the cups next time.
