saliva instead of lubricant?

my friend literally spit into his hand and then fingered me so he could get inside me comfortably with the condom.

If you have oral sex, his saliva is in you and on you!
As you already noted, you're exchanging spit with him when kissing. If you're overly concerned that a STD would be transmitted that way, then be sure to have lubricant on hand, and avoid kissing.
The thought of someone spitting grosses me out, but we use saliva as lubricant all the time. He's probably used to spitting during masturbation, but saliva can be used without it seeming so gross. Either of you can insert your fingers into the others mouth to gather the saliva and then use it to lubricate and put on a show, or saliva can be left behind after oral sex. Both of those events add to the foreplay, so they (in my opinion) are much more in tune with the moment.
A lot of the amateur porn I've seen lately involves spitting. Like I said, it grosses me out, but it appears to be something that is popular, at least among some, at this given time.
If you're prone to getting yeast infections or infections like UTIs, then you might want to avoid spit. The saliva can carry sugar and bacteria, so it can contribute to either of those problems.

I don't watch that much porn, but I totally agree that the "spitting" phenomenon that young men seem to be embracing is totally disgusting!
