Sex still hurts

Hi I was really hoping I could get some advice.
I had sex for the first time when I was 17 and as i expected it hurt. Im now 21 and the pain is still there! It hurts when he is putting it in, even if I get him to go really slowly, then the pain eases off but it never really feels good. We tried using lubricant and loads of foreplay but nothing makes it go away. Ive have only ever had sex with the one guy who i was with all that time but we recently broke up and since then I have met someone else but am terrified of telling him my problem, its so embarrasing! Im really shy so going to the doctor is the last thing I want to do.
I really appreciate any advice you can give me,
Thankyou! xxx

You're 21, you've been sexually active since you were 17 and you are way past due for a gyno exam.

Welcome to the board, tessie101.

I agree with Tish that you need to see a gyn, not just for this, but because you really should be seeing one on a yearly basis. Since you're just starting into a new relationship, it's a great time to go, as you should also be looking at birth control options.

Sex shouldn't be painful -- ever first time sex shouldn't be painful. If you're fearing that it will be, then getting checked out by the doctor can actually put your mind to ease. If there aren't any physical problems, you'll know that you're okayl That can go a long way to helping you relax and enjoy sex.
