Hey all

I was reading this article this morn and I wanted to know how you all felt about this.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/13/film.cannes.atomegoyan.ap/index.html

It basically talks about something thats been bouncing in my head for a while
now.

Why is it that we accept violence on our TV but not sex ?

I don't know why - but this has bothered me since my 7th grade English teacher informed the class that she would rather let her children watch a violent, gory movie than anything containing a sexual reference.

I. Don't. Get. It.
That just seems so stupid and backwards to me.

So you'd rather have your child kill someone than get pregnant?????

Interesting point by Mrs. Para, and sorry if I missed it in the article if its there, was that it much easier to have an "R" rating or worse for sexual movies than violent ones.

Admittedly, I'm not put off by romance so long as its avoiding unnecessary graphics. Here's another twist to the sex part of the industry though: Its more unacceptable because of the of it these days as well.

For example, kissing between a husband and wife?, so what. NOW, make it a kissing scene between two ladies or between two guys, and it alllll of a sudden becomes more "unacceptable" sorta speak.

When it comes to violence, a lot of it has to do with anyway, so the only real problem people have with violence compared to sex is how graphic it unnecessarily becomes, unless its a Freddy vs. Jason type of story of course.

I don't know, thats just my quick point of view on it. After church, I'll likely be watching a Bruce Lee flick...shame on me? LOL!
