I have discovered that scrotum hair serves a very important purpose: It prevents chafing.

Re: "I have more to chafe", The three studies (actual papers from real doctors):

that I've seen on guys with more than one penis and/or three or more testes actually mentioned this problem as an aside. Although, none of them said anything about shaving being any part of it.

How does your scrotum get chafed? Other than sitting, the scrotum hangs and swings around occassionaly brushing legs. What is the bag hitting?

I shaved and had trouble the chafing, primarily at the gym. For science sake, I used briefs to keep everyone where they were supposed to be and I got chafed. Then I used boxers to allow everyone to move freely and got chafed and other uncomfortable situtations as well. No win here. For reference, I usually do cardio - the eliptical machine and the treadmill.

Do any guys who don't shave, do any kind of extended cardio exercises?

My DH is a bike rider and he noticed more chafing when he trimmed very short. Maybe if all a guy does physically is....ahem.....hang around, then he won't experience the problem but very active guys definitely can experience chafing.

"...the scrotum hang and swings...."

Not if you're wearing tighter fitting clothes, like bike shorts, or even just tighty whiteys, it doesn't. It rubs against everything down there.

Sitting down with a relaxed scrotum can be a problem, as can running or jumping. And, tight fitting clothes can rub and chaf tender skin. Perhaps a guy should wear a jock strap if active or with tight clothes. Don't want the scrotum sagging to the knees from lack of support.

My DH always wears a jock while working out and that doesn't prevent chafing.

Chafing happens when the little stubble rubs on other skin.

Well DH stays shaved, he actually gets irritated when he isnt shaved. He also doesnt wear anything tight. Boxers and lose slacks, jeans and shorts. He has never had a problem with chaffing. Let them hang and breathe a little. Maybe that will prevent it. I dont know I dont have a scrotum so what do I know :)

Kind of limits what one can wear though. I guess not everyone is willing to wear only loose clothes.
