Hi. I was just trying to get other womens opinions on the best type and brand of razors to use to shave down there? I have been just using a disposable razor, but I was wondering if theres I kind I can use to get a closer shave?

My favorite razor is actually a man's razor - the Gilette Sensor Excel. It's just 2 blades - but it does an amazing job. I have a 3-blade women's Venus Divine razor that I use for my legs - but it always nicks me on my pubic area.

Also - I highly recommend Edge shave gel - the extra protection formula with the magenta-colored cap.

Don't bother with the Bikini Zone Anti-Bumps shaving gel - it didn't work for me at all. It's supposed to be specially formulated for our sensitive areas...but I think the Edge gel works best!

That's just one gal's opinion

DW uses Gillette Mach 3( 3 blades) and Aveeno Positively Smooth shaving gel. She can get it baby smooth, but only goes downward (with the hair).

If you really want to be smooth and for a long time you really need to get waxed. See Body Hair & Skin Solutions board.

Gillette Mach III with a fresh blade, a warm shower to soften the hair and get it really wet, a little dob of shavefoam reapplied as necessary, the minimum necessary number of light strokes with the grain, rinse clean with lukewarm water, gently pat dry. Apply a little Teatree oil (a natural mild antiseptic) moisturising cream.

From a guy that shaves down there, I use a high quality razor and an acne face wash before and after. Haven't had a problem since I started doing that.

For the education of it, would you be willing to share the benefit of that acne wash? Why does it work?, or should I say does it work better than something else?

Thanks.

A brand new double or triple blade, such as the brands mentioned already, should work just fine. The shaving gel you use is just as important.

I haven't been able to find any here in MN, but I remember finding in Ontario a brand of Edge shaving gel that was labeled for skin. If it IS available here in the States--which I can't figure out why it wouldn't be--then try that one if you can find it.
