Shaving/waxing

I don't know how to shave right. I don't get bumps, but it does itch. I shave and then rinse and put on lotion to calm it down. But a few hours later when DH touches it hurts! Not sure if that's what razor burn is or not???? How can I get it to not burn/hurt? Would waxing be better? DH doesn't like the bare look and I not fond of it either, but I would like to try a strip. I try to do the edges in the summer but it causes irritation and I've had a cyst on my inner thigh from an ingrown hair.

I need some help! I want to shave not just trim, but I need it to be pain free afterwards.

Hi kmt!

I'm simply copying and pasting what I had posted a few times about shaving...seems easier that way. Hopefully these tips can help you prevent at least a little bit more of the burning. Some people benefit from it, some don't, but here ya go anyway. :)

Here's a copy of what I posted earlier. These tips have not let me down and is usually the saviour of so many others regarding shaving issues too. Only thing I'd add is to shave using nice smooth slow strokes. Smooth slow strokes. I had to repeat that due to the number of reports about those who go a little too fast/rough. Hope this helps.

1) DO NOT use electric shavers down there. You've been warned!

2) Once you do start and get comfortable with it, try to keep up with it at least every 2-3 days. This helps keep the micro hairs from becoming too thick again and helps prevent ingrowing.

3) I used the same type of shaving gel that I use when shaving my face. Seemed to help me anyway. I've read that many women use the same stuff thats used for legs too.

4) PLEASE make sure your razor is as sharp as new if you can help it. You want to cut, not pull. Ouch!

5) The bumpies and itchies everyone complains about are COMPLETELY non-existant when I shave because I brave the techinque of doing so with cool to actually cold water. Again, this isn't for just rinsing afterwards, but for prepping as well. Won't go into the scientific/physiological detail of why/how it works...but it DOES work and many across the internet absolutely swear by it. In fact, the number of times that I've actually knicked myself, the cold water rinsing stopped the bleeding cold (pun or not, its true). I usually start with lukewarm to cool so I prepare for the pain of the cool to cold as I finish. Yep, I only shave while showering.

6) Good products all around for sure. Midas Touch 8000 helped me a lot too. You've GOT to look that one up...self explanatory.

MANY sources on this subject across the internet, so keep using your search engine on pubic shaving. Good luck.

I'm going to give you opposite advice of para ... DO use electric shavers.

I've been clean shaven for over 4 yrs. And I don't itch or get bumps. AFter the initial trim with scissors, the first shave was with a razor; after that it's been all electric with the exception of teh few times that I let it go too long and had to re-razor.

For the initial razor trim
