I would like to know if anyone out there has there tongue pierced? If so, does your man or woman like oral sex more? I am thinking of getting mine done. I hope this is the right

Hi Chelle,

I have my tongue pierced! Twice to be exact. *big grin* I am female and I've only had experience with 2 guys and my tongue piercing(s). Both guys have said that they can feel that I have my tongue pierced, but that it doesn't really do much for them.

But, having said that, neither of the guys are into body piercings (or tattoos), so maybe that has part to do with their indifference. I would imagine that if a guy is turned on by the fact of a tongue (or other body part) piercing, then it might do more for them.

In reverse, it is most often guys that get their tongue pierced for the pleasure of females. I've heard it can help in stimulating your clitoral area. But, I've also been told that if the guy isn't a good lover in the first place, nothing he adds to his tongue/mouth is going to help. In fact, it could make it painful...especially if he isn't sensitive enough and presses too hard.

We all know how sensitive we are down below.

Good luck with making your decision about getting tongue pierced or not. If you have more questions, ask them here and I'll do my best to respond or feel free to jump over to the Tattoos & Piercings board.

p.s. I'm a Leo too!

Hi Heather!

Thanks for stopping by and helping Chelle out. Of course, if she gets her tongue pierced, we all want updates too ;-)

I had a g/f who had a pierced tongue and I agree with the first poster. There really wasn't much difference in sensation as far as I could tell, and she hadn't had it pierced because she like oral more than the average woman! As mentioned, if a guy is into piercings and stuff I'm sure that he'd get more of a kick out of it.

Just a word of warning though, tongue studs aren't good for your teeth in the long term. Quite apart from the immediate danger of chipping a tooth there is the long term damage of a hard stud rubbing against the enamel on the inside of your teeth. It will wear the enamel out; especially if you are one of those people that has the habit of flicking or rubbing the stud against your teeth.

I haven't had any sexual experience with them first hand, BUT, I wonder why someone who is pondering getting a tongue piercing wouldn't be moreso

I know this thread was last posted in months ago, but I just re-found it. :)

I agree (along with many others, doctors included) that there are dangers to have a tongue piercing. Many people do get their tongue piercing near the front of their tongue, leave the original (long) barbell in too long after the initial healing and they do play with their piercing against their teeth. All of those things can cause problems in the teeth.

On the other hand, it is possible to have a tongue piercing and not have adverse side effects! I have had my tongue pierced for 13 years and I also got a 2nd hole a couple of years ago. My barbells are short enough I don't bite them and the balls are (most often) acrylic/plastic, so if I do bite them, they will most likely break before my teeth will.

Also, I'm not one to play with my piercing much anymore. :)

Hi rain_dancer_iam. I see your points and many of them are valid, but I thought I'd share my two cents with you as I have had my tongue pierced for the past 13 years and don't see myself taking them out any time soon.

First off, I wonder how one would kiss with a metal ball in their mouth? What if you both have one? Does it take away from the "act" in any way?

The two guys I've kissed (an ex-bf for 4 years and my DH of 10 years) have said that they can tell I have something in my mouth sometimes, but don't really notice it. I've never kissed anyone with a tongue ring, so I haven't experienced it with two people, I always thought it might be fun though. Oh well, I won't be trying it! LOL

Secondly, does it harbor bacteria? Follow me here..... If you have an object that is approx. 1/2" long and 1/16" in diameter inserted into a cavity, wouldn't it be a trap for food and debris? ..... My questions would be more in line with: "How often do you have to take it out to clean it?" "Do you take it out to clean the inside of the hole?" "If not, will it give you bad breath, much like food wedged between two teeth does (which is why we floss?)." "Does it make you sick?"

The mouth itself has bacteria, but I haven't noticed that having a tongue piercing creates any more than normal, especially with regular brushing and flossing!

Food does not get trapped in or around the piercing. Just like our teeth gets plaque on them, the barbell does too.. But that is easily taken care of by regular brushing. I brush my barbell each day, so it is always clean. There is NO bad smell, taste or creation of cavities because of my tongue piercings. No need to take it out either.

I am also quite healthy..I don't get sick any more often than the next person (maybe even less *big grin*).

You do also know that it changes the structure of your tongue to the point where you will speak differently. I can always tell when someone has one in, way before I see it, by the lisp or the overcompensation of the ring.

I do agree with you that for the most part, people's speech does change some. The main reason for that is that they get their tongue pierced quite near to the front of the tongue so that the barbell is in the way when you speak, which also makes it more visible and noisy (clanking on the teeth). It really does drive me nuts when all I can notice is the flash of metal in the mouth and hear when someone has a tongue piercing. And I have my tongue pierced!!!

I would like to beg to differ that you would most likely not be able to tell that I have my tongue pierced (twice). My first tongue piercing is farther back in my tongue, maybe near the middle..and the 2nd one is behind that. I have worked in customer service for many years and many of my customers, who I saw up close and daily, never noticed my tongue piercing unless I laughed a bit too wide or yawned and didn't cover my mouth (bad me!). Right now I am very sure most of my language classmates have no clue that my tongue is pierced. Many would freak if they knew. LOL

Is it worth all of that, even if it was "somewhat" more pleasurable? Those are the things you should be asking and researching......and most of all "thinking" about.

It is true, people should think about all the consequences before they get any sort of body modification done. Unfortunately not everyone does.

I know that when I got mine done 13 years ago, I didn't think of many of the things you have brought up, but I did know the basics about them. I also wasn't getting my tongue pierced just for the pleasure aspect of it. I was doing it for me, because I wanted it! And it has been that way every day since. Plus, it never gave much pleasure to either of my guys. LOL. Plus, when I got my tongue pierced, it was the beginning of this whole "piercing trend", not as much was known about it then.

I have learned more about the possible risks as time has gone on and I am a huge advocate of learning before leaping!

And lastly, my first impression of those who have one is that they are advertising that they are serious about giving oral sex, even to the point of "expertise." That's a lot to "live" up to--or in other words, you're setting yourself up to be a "disappointment" to those who expect that which you advertise.

As I said above, I did this for myself. I've never advertised anything to anyone and if someone has ever thought otherwise, has been disappointed because I don't give out anything, except to my husband. Although, when I first got my tongue pierced and not many people had heard of it yet, it was a great conversation starter!

I hope my view points have helped.. at least in so much as to how I view my own tongue piercings and myself.
