I'm not sure if this is the right board but I'll try it, if its not sorry....I have been told since I was about 16(few yrs old now) that after you have sex it makes your periods worse and more painful, so on and so forth. 6-8 months ago I started having sex(with the same guy) and still learning about stuff... lol, but anyways I'm begining to think that it was just a scare tatic to get me to not have sex and to wait, because since I have not really seen a change it them, they seem maybe a little better actually. (knock on wood, now it will probably happen. lol). Does anybody know if this is true or was the person who told me this lying? Thanks in advance. :)

Never hear of that, I infact found it the opposite, my periods became more regular certainly not painfull, I am not sure who told you that I wouls suspect your mom trying to make prevent you from having sex in the first place. I would suggest if you get some information that sounds really weird, you can certainly look it up and find out for yourself, knowledge is a powerful tool, use it to your advantage.

Many years ago, before scientific advances, when people knew very little about the human body, there were all kinds of beliefs like that.....called "old wives tales". People passed them on from generation to generation, and unfortunately, some people still believe things like that. Even today, with all the information available, it's amazing to me that women understand so little about their bodies, their reproductive system and even their health. They used to tell young men if they masturbated, they'd go blind. Women were terrified of menopause because they believed menopause caused nervous breakdowns. They believed that the "pull out" method would prevent pregnancy.

As for your story, I've never heard anything like that.....and if anything, it should regulate periods, because being sexually active increases your hormone levels, and that would regulate periods in the same way the b/c pills do.

Sex can do nothing to harm your body unless you get a disease from your partner. It has been proven that people who are sexually active lead a longer and healthier life than those who aren't.

Thanks for the reply and every on else who did also. I didn't think it was true, I just wanted to make sure, so I knew if it was coming or not. I certianly didn't want to ask the person who told me that what was up. It makes alot of sense now, I should have known it was a wives tale, because my grandmother was the one who told me that and she still believes alot of those tales. What you said seems to be true, about becoming regular . Thanks again. :)

IT'S DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE. I NEVER GOT BAD/PAINFUL PERIODS, NOT EVEN AFTER I STARTED HAVING SEX. IT WASNT UNTIL I HAD MY DAUGHTER THAT I STARTED GETTING PAINFUL PERIODS. ALSO I KNOW PEOPLE WHO ONLY GOT BAD PERIODS BEFORE HAVING CHILDREN.
