I have recently considered having this surgery, my husband and I have been married for 20 yrs this fall. He has never said anything at all, no complaint there, but I had two large babies and it just doesn't feel like before. Does anyone know anything about it or has anyone had this done, I wonder what men think about it.

I would try kegel exercises first. Easy to do and shows a definite benefit within a few weeks if you do them regularly. I have had 3 children, 2 of them over 9lbs and I am just as tight as far as muscles go as I was before I had them. But then again I believe in working with what God gave me. Not all people are as stubborn about that as I am. Nothing wrong with getting work like that done but be sure you find a reputable surgeon WITH references if you do it!

Welcome to the board mom_tlw87.

I felt the same way at one time, and I thought the kegel exercises would never work. Truth is, with diligence, they did work -- better than I ever thought they would. A great way to help with the exercise is to get some Ben Wa or Smart Balls. You actually wear them as you do your exercises (they can be worn other times or longer also).

I think if you really want to try the surgery that's fine, I just have never heard first hand results about it. I would be sure to go to a reputable place by doing a lot of research first. Talk with your gyn and primary care docs too. They can give you referrals or more info on the procedure.

We would love to hear the results too!

I agree with the other two posters, and especially recommend using ben wa or smart balls. Go that route, give it time and try it, don't head right for surgical solutions. Besides, the balls are addictive and fun. :-)

ROFLMBO!

My co-cl, Michele, says her DH knows when she has her balls in, by the swanky way she walks. Man, musicians must be observant. ;-)

I say, every woman needs balls.

I hate to ask, but where would I buy these balls, you just insert them and "hold them"? How long do you start with and do you try to wear them longer and longer?

One more thing, what is ben wa? Never heard of it, or the balls for that matter.

Lots of places to buy them. here's a synopis of what they are.

BenWa balls
A woman inserts the balls and will become aroused as they move while she moves or walks around. Also builds muscle strength. The balls are weighted so that you have to contract your muscles to hold them in. This is not only helpful with strengthening vaginal muscles but also helps strengthen bladder control.

They are 2 weighed balls about an 1 1/2" across (guessing here) that you can use to exercise your hands or your vagina lol. The good ones have like music things inside them. My daughter gave me a set for my hands when she was about 15 for my birthday one year (I have slight arthritis). I don't think she still knows the other use for them LOL. Those particular ones are only used for my hands !!

Ben wa balls, that is the term used for the oriental ones, that are separate, as Tami-kins described. They are also known as health balls, in some places. Smart balls is a trade name for balls intended for vaginal use, manufactured by the company Fun Factory. Those are joined together, and have a string on them, which makes it easy to pull them out of the vagina, like a tampon. I have the Smart Balls, and have wanted to try the ones Tami describes, but haven't yet gotten any. Anything I have purchased from Fun Factory is of excellent quality, by the way, balls or vibes. It might seem to be more expensive than some other products, but the quality and health and safety aspect is important, IMO. Don't buy things made out of cheap materials. I bought another set of balls once, that had spiky bits on them, which appealed to me. But when I got them out of the package, they were made from some kind of rubber that gave off a chemical smell, and there was no way I was going to be inserting that inside me. If it smelled, it meant it was giving off chemical residue, nol thanks!

As for how long you leave them inserted, how often you use them, that is up to you. When I first got mine, I started putting them in around home, to get used to them. Now, I can put them in and leave them for most of the day. I take them out in order to pee, though, wash them, and put them back in. Use a little lube at first, if need be, lie down on the bed with your feet up in the air to insert them, and start tightening your muscles around them, like you would do if you had to pee and needed to hold it til you got to the toilet. That is what makes the Kegel muscles work. Like Tami said, they are weighted and that makes you work your muscles, and it is also what makes it enjoyable. She's right too that it improves bladder control, if that is necessary. Most on-line stores that sell sex toys have them.

My DW just had a hysterectomy, I'm ordering her some as soon as she is allowed to insert "things" there.
