Vaginal sex after your period

Hello....I'm pretty new to this whole sex thing since I lost my virginity
two months ago. I just got done my menstrual cycle yesterday so my monthly
friend left town and won't be back til next year. Suppose my partner wanted
to have vaginal sex with me today, is it true that he can do so without using
a condom thus not risking my chances of ever getting pregnant? If so, for
how long (days) can my partner do this without a condom? I believe this
is a question about ovulation...something I need to be more informed
about, especially with my own body......any advice would be appreciated!!

Yes indeed, if you're sexually active, and you don't want to get pregnant, you NEED to learn about ovulation.
The most important thing you need to know is that you do NOT have "vaginal sex" (otherwise known as intercourse) without a condom EVER unless you want to get pregnant. You use a condom each and every time, even DURING your period.
Your menstrual cycle consists of ovulation and then the menstrual period, which is a sign that you're NOT pregnant and then the cycle starts all over again. Ovulation takes place for MOST women between the two periods....i.e.: if you're on a 28 day cycle, then you will ovulate around the 14th day after your period starts. Unfortunately, all women are different, and we can ovulate ANY time, even DURING your period...therefore you don't have unprotected sex ever.
Also, in case you aren't aware, your b/f should put the condom on as soon as he becomes erect....because from the moment he becomes erect, he's leaking pre-ejaculate fluid, which could have active sperm in it....so the "withdrawal" method doesn't work....you can still get pregnant before he ejaculates.
Better yet, if you're sexually active, you should see your gyno, get a good physical, and discuss methods of birth control that YOU can use, because female hormonal birth control is much more reliable than condoms. Any female that is sexually active should see their gyno at least once a year for a physical and a pap test.
Educate yourself......just look up birth control on the internet. Look up ovulation, and how a woman's body works. Knowledge of yourself and your body are your best protection against unwanted pregnancies and STD's. For starters, check out www.the-clitoris.com which will give you lots of information about sex and your body. Start reading..good luck!

Ditto on
This is true. But I have read and heard from my own dr. that sperm can survive in the vagina for up to 72 hrs. not 5 days.
And we now know that women can ovulate more than once a month as well, even during our period.
Our cycles can be affected by many, many things each month so it's not reliable to use that as a safety net.
