Vaginas: size and variation

I'm starting this conversation after reading humpdaddy's poll below about "how much penis is too much?" It's interesting, because it does vary. The popular official answer that experts give about women's anatomy is that vaginas are pretty much created equal and vary in size very little. They'll demonstrate that a vagina can stretch tremendously as in childbirth and then shrink again.

But, if you ask a man that has had a few lovers, he KNOWS that women vary in size and capacity as much as men's penises vary in size...and we all know that men do vary in size quite a bit. Quoting humpdaddy: "In my experience vaginas come in different depths just as penises come in different lengths."

I know this from talking to other women, too. I have a friend who told me (embarrassed) that if a penis isn't huge, she almost can't even feel it, and the only penises that satisfy her are enormous. (She had two vaginal births.) I'm the opposite. Although I'm 5'6" and not small-boned (more like average in overall size), I'm very tight and small down there. (I've had one c-section birth so no baby has passed through.) Men have exclaimed about the tightness several times in my sexual experience. My hubby, most especially. I never knew this about myself (or ever would have thought it) until former boyfriends said it. The first time we made love, he looked amazed and wide-eyed and said, "You are as tight as an 18 year old!" He still comments on it to this day. His ex's vagina was loose/bigger.

So, I've wondered for years...does childbirth sometimes, or maybe often, change a woman's vaginal size? Often, breasts sag after nursing, we all know that. What about the other?

I wonder if some young women and/or never-had-babies women sometimes have bigger vaginal canals, too?

I'm quite certain that vaginas can vary, both during arousal and during the relaxed state, from woman to woman, at least to some degree. Just as some erections will become "average" even though it may look small when flaccid. I think it has more to do with muscle tone and how much the individual vagina "balloons" when aroused.

Personally, my vagina has changed little, even after giving birth naturally twice.

My vagina hasn't changed(not that Dh or I have noticed) after birthing three children(no episiotmoies). I do kegels regularly to keep myself in tip top shape. Breastfeeding doesn't make your breasts sag, pregnancy is what causes the changes in your breasts(and genetics). I am breastfeeding my third child with little difference in my breasts. I have seen women who bottle fed who have really saggy breasts.

mz crunch....After my dw had her baby, and she had time to recuperate, the fit was exactly as it was before the birth. Its true what I had learned about vagina sizes. With a couple women I felt lost in there lol...while with several others, they were almost too tight. As far as depth, there have been some where, even when they were really turned on, their cervix just wasnt very deep, while other women I never came close to hitting it.Im a little over average in length,@ 7", and a little on the thicker side, @ 5 and 3/4" around.Im not huge by any stretch(no pun) but Im by no means small either. Some of the women Ive talked with said they had a man who was nine inches and really disliked the "fit" where another woman said she prefers a long one and has no problems with the length. Some women say its the girth they need rather the length.

I am a virgin and the gyn used the smallest instrument on me at exam time. She even claimed to have gone down to the pediatric instrument. Does this mean I was small or that I was nervous and she thought a small instrument would work better?

This made me wonder about the look of the overall woman. Do some women have bigger vulva as in length or thickness? Is large or long labia a turn off?

All women are built differently.....size, lenghth and even color. This is the OUTER vulva....most vaginas are pretty much alike...and stay that way barring some trauma during childbirth.

I've never heard of a man that was turned off by ANY kind of labia.....when they're there, they're NOT studying the way it looks! All they worry about is GETTING there, and it being attached to a cooperative woman!

Women are the only ones who worry about labia size......just as pretty much only men are worried about penis size.

Since no two human beings are built exactly alike, of course there will be variations, particularly in depth. As far as "width" is concerned, the vagina "at rest" is usually closed tight. It doesn't matter if she's had no vaginal births, or ten! (unless there's some trauma to the muscles during the birth process, and that's rare.)

Where the difference comes in is the woman's age and experience. An older woman, who's comfortable with her body, and with sex will relax faster, and lubricate better.....and might SEEM somewhat looser, but the vagina is "designed" to "form around" whatever is inserted. A young girl, new to sex is never going to be able to relax and lubricate as well as an older experienced woman.....so she'll seem tighter.

You rarely hear about a mature woman having a problem with a physical exam, and/or a pap smear.....but young girls do......because they're nervous, and tight.

I've given birth three times vaginally, with three episiotomies...and I've never had anyone complain that I was too loose......and I DON'T do kegels, either.

Women are built the same but as with every other part of the body muscle tone varies. It is a myth that vaginal birth stretches the vagina although there are things that can happen during childbirth that can cause significant damage (forceps, episiotomy, extensive tearing etc.). I know that width of the vagina varies much more than the length does. I have had a c/s and then three vaginal births (babies between 7.5 and 10 lbs) and there is no difference noticed by me and dh says there is no difference, I also do kegels.

Mz greenteabag.. Of the women Ive been with in my adult life, there were two women who had extremely loose vaginas. Neither of these women were mothers. In fact, they were so loose, that the normal positions provided little if any stimulation at all. One woman obviously knew it because she suggested a position where she was able to close her legs with me inside her.It helped, but it was still loose. I believe Im on the thick side (nearly 6" around)and still felt "lost inside." In my quest for a mate, I was fortunate to fall in love with a woman that was intelligent, funny, appealing, and sexually compatable with me. By that I mean in appetite as well as a perfect fit anatomically.

It's hard for me to say how OTHER women are built but I would say I'm on the "roomy" side from what my boyfriends have said and from asking my OB. To me bigger IS better when it comes to a man's size just because I can feel it better. Certain positions just don't work at all. I didn't even notice a difference after having my kids (I have 4 boys). It's just something I've always noticed it and my OB even concurred (told me she had to use the biggest instrument). So to me its all a matter of "fit"...you just have to find someone you fit well with considering your physical make up.
