waking up excited

I have noticed that my bf wakes up hard almost every morning. I have no problem with this, I am more than happy to take advantage on the situation. I was just wondering if it happens to all or most men, I have heard it does, and why it happens.

A man's penis moves from erect to flacid many times during the night for a variety of reasons. Kind of nature's way of exercising things. It can be caused by erotic dreams that the sleeper usually doesn't remember (women have the same thing happen to them and many women will notice an inordinate amount of lubrication with no memory of the dream), but a morning erection is usually caused by the need to urinate. The body is temporarily "fooled" by the sensation and reacts by creating an erection.
Peace.
Scott.
Men also can and usually do have several erections during the night, called nocturnal erections. It happens during certain periods of sleep called REM (rapid eye movement).
Here's a short "blurb" about it from a search engine:
Some males wake up with an erection and some don't. Either way, both are completely normal. Studies have shown that men have several erections and arousal periods while in the dreaming phase of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (REM). Women also experience an arousal response, but it is not marked as easily as an erection is. Also, males are known to have wet dreams (ejaculate) in their sleep and females are known to experience orgasms.
Why this happens in males and females is unknown. Many doctors believe that this may be the body's way of checking itself. For more information on your sexual health, ask your doctor.

Also it seems that sleeping on your back does it more then any other position.
I do agree that testosterone is often highest in the morning but often the morning woody is not accompanied by any sexual excitement. Its just there.
