ok so heres the deal: certain positions cause me pain AFTER sex. for instance, yesterday my boyfriend and i had sex...he was on top, one of my legs was on his shoulder. it felt amazing during! but after, i got this sudden urge to pee. i went but seriously 30 seconds later i felt like i had to go again; i really didnt have to pee - only a dribble. but even after that i had this burning, urge to pee feeling. i also felt like there was still pressure in the area. im really confused, i have no idea whats going on. like i said, it only happens when we do certain positions.
is this normal? what is it?

thanks! :)

NO, this is not normal, this is POSSIBLY one of the symptoms of a urinary infection. If it continues, get to your doctor or a clinic.

If this happens after certain positions, and it is indeed a UTI - urinary tract infection - the position used can be conducive to spreading the infection. A UTI happens when bacteria from fecal matter is introduced into the urethra, travelling up to the bladder. His penis can be moving in the area where there are traces of fecal matter, between the vagina and the anus, and introducing the bacteria into the vagina. There are some basic hygenic procedures that can be followed to diminsh the risk of this.

1 - after peeing, always wipe from front to back, all the time.

2 - before having sex, go and empty your bladder - who cares if the *mood* is interrupted, say in a sultry voice *I'll be right back* and just do it.

3 - before sex, while you are in the toilet and have emptied your bladder, either use a wet washcloth or even some toilet paper with water on it, to clean yourself, from front to back, in case there is any fecal matter in the area. Again, wipe from front to back, and use the washcloth JUST for this, then put it in the laundry.

4 - get up and pee again after sex, and drink plenty of water.

If this is a urinary tract infection, or more commonly called cystitis, get it treated and be careful. Repeated infections can be increasingly painful and dangerous. Take it from me, I have too much first hand experience with them, but since strictly practicing all I've outlined above, I haven't had a repeat.

As Nenu said, it sounds like a possible UTI. The frequent need to urinate and a burning sensation are usually the first indicators of that. It can be caused from any bacteria entering your urethra, and some people are more sensitive than others. If you do find out that you have frequent UTIs, the advice Nenu gave you is great to follow. Also, be sure both of you have clean hands, do not incorporate food into your sex play and make sure you always take your full dose of medications to be sure to rid any infection.

Drinking cranberry juice is also recommended to help battle UTIs.

What you describe are the classic symptoms of an UTI. But, you didn't say anything about the next day. If you have an UTI, it doesn't usually go away without treatment. If the symptoms were gone the next day, and didn't return......it's possible that rather than an infection, it was from irritation of the urethra, which was somehow "rubbed" too much because of your position.

All of the information about preventing UTI's is correct, including the cranberry juice. If you feel the frequent need to urinate, it burns when you do, and it's only a few drops.....and there's blood in the urine (it's not usually red, but dark, like cola or coffee) then it IS an UTI, and you have to go to the doctor to get it diagnosed, and treated with the proper medication. If you don't, the symptoms might let up, but it can also back up into the kidneys, which can be VERY serious.

If everything seems back to normal now....it was "irritation" (sometimes called 'Honeymoon Cystitis') and you should be ok. But if you feel any of those symptoms, get to the doctor. If it happens again, try to find a different postion that won't irritate the urethra.

sakura...yah it isnt something that lasts more than 20-25 minutes. i was a little confused about how a UTI could only be irritating for a while but im not really the most knowledgable person for that sort of stuff.
anyways, you said prob just some irritation from hitting uretha?

No, not from "hitting" the urethra......from rubbing it excessively. The urethra is the opening of the bladder, and it's located between the clitoris and the vagina. In some positions, he's rubbing against it continually, and making it sore and inflamed. When it's inflamed, urinating burns it. It also gives the sensation of needing to urinate, but after the first time, there are only a few drops coming out. This is the SAME as an UTI, but it goes away in a few hours. If it doesn't go away, then it's an UTI.
