I'm gonna start billing you for anatomy lessons, lol To my knowledge, the cervix doesn't do much of anything but hang there. The cervix is the opening to the uterus. Picture an upside down balloon, and the cervix is the neck of the balloon. The opening of the cervix might expand to allow sperm to enter it, after all, that's the actual purpose of the cervix.

The whole thing is suspended by ligaments.....and in some women, multiple pregnancies will stretch those ligaments, and the whole thing, uterus and cervix will be lower in the vagina, shortening the depth, and causing pain when hit.

It can't "move out of the way"....there's no place for it to move. It's doubtful to me if it "moves" anywhere. Many years ago I used a diaphragm for b/c...and the rim of the diaphragm holds it in place around the cervix. If the cervix was moving around, the diaphragm wouldn't stay in place, and would be useless!

Very honestly, since all women are different, I guess anything is possible, but it's not something I've ever heard about or read about. Douglas and Graffenberg must have gone to the same medical school! A lot of people doubt the existence of the "g" spot, too.

Dak maybe I should start billing you!..lol..You have not heard about the uterus "tenting" or pulling back when aroused, exposing more vaginal canal? Many vaginas are @ 4 or 5" deep, but after tenting they can accommodate more length.

"How do you stimulate the cul-de-sac ? When a woman is aroused, her uterus lifts up and exposes this area. When you penetrate and contact this area during intercourse, it produces very intense orgasms."

"...produces very intense orgasms." Maybe. For some.

But we already know that you can't make a blanket statement about all women or men about anything. And we know that no two women respond exactly the same way to any kind of stimulation.

I certainly get no pleasure from having my cervix bumped nor to having the nether regions of my vagina probed vigorously. And I know this because I have experienced both.

kat I agree, I was only quoting from an article from askmen.I`m sure the degree of the uterus lifting up and away is different for all women too...My wife for one couldnt take a very long college boyfriend because of him hitting her cervix. I would think many women really have no idea if it would be pleasurable or not because the average length man normally can not reach that deep.(I`m not saying if it is or not pleasurable)..there have been a few women that I did experience the cul de sac, and I really dont think it was any big deal to them...Other women I`m sure I came no where near their "cul de sac".....lol

Hump, the average vagina is 3 to 4" in depth...and the average penis is 5 - 7" long. I would think that the cul-de-sac has most probably been utilized much more than any person here could know. I'd think that given the "averages" most intercourse experiences would be painful...and that just isn't the case.

It's all very logical.... ;-)

Rain I agree, but how do you explain a woman who can take 9"? Im 7" and there are women whom I could easily hit bottom and some I didnt even come close.....lol The ave vagina may be @ 4" but after tenting it can be much deeper.I`m sure it varies a lot from woman to woman (depth) just as it does in length for men.At least in my experiences there have been differences in depth

Yes it does, Hump. When a woman is aroused, the uterus usually tilts and causes the cervix to shift out of "direct" hit. If you go to the-clitoris.com and go the orgasm section and view the "four stages of female arousal" (enlarge the picture), you will see what happens to the cervix during the four stages.

Also, MRI images during coitus (see the link below) show how the penis meets the cervix... ;-) during coitus (it may actually displace it...). Perhaps the fireman's hat shape to the head of the penis may have some significance after all! Anyhow...this excerpt was very interesting with respect to "deeper" tissue within the vagina:

"Changes during sexual arousal
Magnetic resonance imaging showed strikingly that during female sexual arousal changes occurred in the anterior vaginal wall. These changes took place in the vaginal wall itself (the engorgement as such is not visible on the images), through the raising of the uterus, displacement of the uterus caused by penetration of the penis, and through gradual filling of the bladder. Histological studies 11 12 and immunohistochemistry13 have shown that the anterior wall of the vagina has denser innervation than the posterior wall. This is supported by clinical studies 14 15 and research into vaginal sensitivity to electric stimuli16 in which the anterior vaginal wallwith the urethra behind itwas found to be relatively sensitive. Hoch's concept of a clitoral-vaginal sensory arm of the orgasmic reflex refers specifically to the anterior vaginal wall and the deeper tissuesthe urinary bladder, the periurethral tissues, and Halban's fascia15and our images support this."

My personal theory is that like many things that occur within our bodies, some things only "occur" as the result of some pre-requisite. I do not think that the vagina is any different. In certain circumstances, it's basically senseless and/or "dormant"...but in others (as during different levels of arousals), certain "areas" come alive with sensations--very much like the clitoris or the penis. While unaroused...they may contain some sensation, but minute as compared to during arousal--I see the vagina as not being much different.

Yes, obviously there are longer women, but the point was that if "most" women are "short" then why aren't they complaining about painful intercourse? Even if they are tenting (and are with a man with a 5" penis), the penis is still well past her cervix.

In any event, I personally think a lot of it also has to do with arousal (women can easily have sex even though they are not aroused). If a woman is only slightly aroused, she may not tent at all--then what?. Also, I think that some women's cervixes are more sensitive than others; or some may be more sensitive at certain times of the month, or if there's a yeast infection or some other problem. I read that the cervix actually does not contain all that many nerve endings (which is why cancer of the cervix is virtually painless and asympotmatic).

Again, logically, it's most likely that most penises are hitting most cervixes at any given encounter...and no one is the wiser. Sexual position might also have something to do with it. The head of the penis is at a 45 degree angle. So, if you look at the images again and picture the same image only during doggie, it would seem that the penis would be jabbing its' point directly into the cervix, (whereas during missionary the angle would slide under it), you would also gain a little more length. During doggie, the point of the head of the penis may even hit the "side wall" of the cervix head-on which may be painful as opposed to the head sliding more gently under the front of it. (Just throwing some thoughts out there....)

I look forward to more extensive MRI images and studies of changes related to sexual organs during coitus (and during arousal mostly). This was just a first.... ;-)

Dakine....the cervix (uterus) doesn't "move", it tilts or changes directions.

I have a question for you, and you don't have to answer if you do not want to, but it's something that I am curious about. During the female orgasm, the vagina and the uterus "contract." You said that you had your uterus removed years ago. Did having it removed have any effect on the "intensity" of your orgasms?

As far as the G-spot, I'm sure that MRI images will "reveal" it (even though it did not in the link I posted) eventually. As I said, I think that there are many parts that lay dormant in our bodies and are only awakened under certain conditions. Allergies come to mind. ;-)

I'd love to answer your question, but I can't. I had my uterus and cervix removed when I was 35, and I never had an orgasm until I was 43 years old, and in menopause, if that makes any difference. As far as I know, they were "intense" then, and they still are 28 years later.

I'm still trying to figure out how the MRI thing works! Have you ever had one? You're in a tube that's so tight you can barely move, let alone have TWO bodies in them and moving. That has got to be one of the worst tests in the world.....and has got to be as close to the feeling of being in a coffin as anyone could have while they're still alive!
There is an "open" MRI, but I've seen pictures of them, and they are still a small space.
