In a way, you can compare breast implants to contacts. A person decides that they don't like the way they look with glasses and they aren't a candidate for lasik. So they get contacts. Another person decides that they would like larger breasts for whatever reason. They want them. They think they will feel better, be more self confident, sexier, whatever. IMHO there is nothing wrong with providing advice as to what size would look good to that person, if they have asked. Also IMHO there is nothing wrong with advising against it as well. However, I do believe it is wrong to tell a person that they should have any type of plastic surgery, if they haven't asked for an opinion. Beren simply provided his/her opinion to the original poster who requested opinions. While most of the replies to this post, have tried to dissuade the OP, Beren simply stated his opinion. Anyway, I will shut up now and go back to my corner.

Well...Beren did just that. He was talking to ALL of the women/girls reading this thread(not just the OP) who are an A or B cup. He said that they'd look better with bigger boobs. I guess it would be the same as a woman coming on here and saying that all men who have a penis under 7" should opt for surgery. That any penis under 7" is not as sexy and is less manly.

The line between medical necessity and elective surgery is "blurred"? What is blurred about getting a new heart or lungs.....as opposed to getting breast implants to be sexier? Life or death as opposed to vanity? I don't see any blurring there.
Contacts are a ridiculous comparison. That is NOT surgery, and it is NOT irreversible. I know a lot of people who wear contacts, but also wear their glasses at times. I also know people who tried contacts and hated them, and went back to glasses full time. As someone who has worn glasses most of my life, I can tell you that they are often inconvenient.....they fog up in the winter, they're always dirty, etc. I have no desire to wear contacts, but I can surely understand those who do.
The point is that surgery is surgery.....and ANY surgery can go badly. Enlarging breasts doesn't make anyone sexy. If they're not "sexy" with normal sized breasts, then there's something lacking in them, not their breasts. Making them bigger isn't going to perform some miracle......they will STILL be unsexy, just with bigger breasts.
You haven't been paying attention to medical developments if you think there's an obvious line between medical necessity and elective surgery. The line is very fine, and many procedures that were once elective and now considered normal.
There's a lot of discussion about these topics, and the issues are not as clear cut as the moralizers at ivillage seem to think. The government's website: http://www.bioethics.gov/topics/beyond_index.html has a lot on this topic if you are interested.
I never said that and would never say that.
It is intellectually dishonest to pretend that words like "womanly" and "manly" aren't used to describe body types. They are used that way all the time. It's not a matter of physical attractiveness. Many small-breasted women are better looking (to most observers) than many large-breasted women. But most English speakers would agree that larger breasts are "womanly". That's how the word is used.
