If you got an e-card telling you that you had been exposed to an STD?

According to this article, "It may not be the most personal way of delivering the news, but researchers say it beats not saying anything at all."

Ok, so it wouldn't be the most courteous way to be told. Maybe the other person lacks the courage to tell you face to face. I could overlook that, because at least he told you. I'd rather be told through e-mail than not be told at all, especially since there are lots of STDs out there that have no symptoms.

I would think he was a coward for not being able to tell me face to face but I'd be

Considering that I've only been with one woman during the past 20 years, I'd be pretty shocked.

Someone's gonna have some pretty quick explaining to do.......and since I teach about STD's, there's no fooling me on the details either!

Thinking about this as if I were single again, I would be pretty upset if this occurred with someone I had a committed relationship with. If he couldn't face me to break the news -- it would be a sure sign that we weren't on the same page.

On the other side of that, if I was in a casual relationship, perhaps the e-mail notification would be better. That way I could deal with my own feelings before having to discuss the situation with him.

Interesting thought. Like Steve, been with the same guy for 29 years so I would be wondering if it wasn't SPAM. I know my dd came home from school a few weeks ago and said that two girls "gave the entire Senior class a STD".

I would be very surprised since I have been celibate since 2001.

Like Steve and Liv, I shouldn't be getting one.
