when is it safe to have sex after you've contracted herpes?

  • when the sores fade
  • never
  • only after treatment, with fading sores

My 2 cents:

#1 RULE: As long as blisters are present, NO SEX or SKIN-TO-SKIN contact with infected area. My wife has herpes. We live by the #1 RULE; in 27 years of marriage, I haven't been infected with herpes. When the skin tingles or burns, she knows the outbreak is happening. The tingling/burning skin is when the herpes is "SHEDDING" AND no sex.

She takes L-lysine herbal (an over-the-counter herbal at the grocery store). Her outbreaks are MAYBE 2 times a year just PRIOR to her period. Good luck, Mac

Thanks for your reply. I've already been checked by a DOCTOR and i've already RECIEVED MEDICATION for it ASWELL. i was just curious and wanted to ask due to the fact that i was unable to reach the doctors and ask this question. Maybe you asssumed i was coming across as if i dont know that herpes is something SERIOUS. BUT ANYWAYS THANKS.

hey mac,

a couple questions for you:

1) did your wife tell you about it before or after you had sex?

2) have you had sex with or without condoms for 27 years?

thanks
