Will i lose sensitivity
| Fri, 09-30-2005 - 12:59pm |
I play hockey in a very competitive league, i always wear a jock and protective cup to protect my penis and testicles from hockey pucks, skates, hockey sticks.Im concerned that over time i will lose sensitivity in my penis, when im' playing hockey it's not uncommon for me to take a shot from a hockey puck which slams into to my jock, though i wear a protective cup my penis always stings and aches for some time .Im' fairly large even when soft and though i wear a large cup, my penis and testicles are cramped inside the cup,i am circumcised and im worried that my glans is going to lose a lot of the senstation when i make love.Is there anybody who can relate to concern of mine. Thanks, Mark

Dear Defense: I can't imagine why you would lose sensitivity in your penis from wearing a cup. Most athletes wear them, and I think the risk would be much greater if you didn't wear one! Your best bet would be to ask an older athlete, particularly a hockey player, how or if it has affected him in any way.
I also think you worry too much about things like that! Re: "your orgasm". Most athletes are sexually active, so I doubt very much if it's bothered them or their popularity.
Here in the land of 10,000 frozen (MN of course), I can tell you that this isn't that big of a concern with us guys in this area. Only time issue was raised was if a direct hit from a puck occurred. Otherwise, your best bet would be to consult with you doc about your concerns, because they ARE very legitimate concerns.
Any sport requiring a cup could have the same concern, but nothing really came of it, not even in the pros unless on rare occasion. Never affected me from my younger playing days either.
Have you confided in fellow teammates to see if they've suffered any affects from constantly wearing a cup?

I don't think you have anything to worry about Mark.
