Yeast Infection

Ever since I had a yeast infection 2 weeks ago I have had a burning sensation inside and out. I did go to the gyn and she said the infection was gone....she thinks I'm just extra sensitive. Now it burns when I pee, too....can't quite tell if it just burns on the outside when I go or not. I guess I could have a bladder infection on top of it, but what else can the burning be? Any suggestions?

Obviously an OBGYN would be your best bet here, but I'll take a stab based on my own experiences.

There is a thing called "burning vulva syndrome" and has various causes. I had it chronically years ago, along with recurring yeast infections. I've done a quick search on it and found the following website which discusses different causes and treatments. http://www.obgyn.net/displayarticle.asp?page=/women/articles/indman/indman_gynpain2

In my experiences, OBGYNS weren't terribly helpful with my discomfort, and yes, I saw many in my quest for an answer to the pain. In my case, I believe that the cause was from undiagnosed depression (which doctors weren't helpful with either) and stress from a failing marriage. I was also mis-diagnosed with herpes while searching for an answer (after an affair) which made my emotional state all the more distressed. It finally cleared up after I made some serious life changes. In the case of my chronic, undiagnosed pain - along with depression, a failing marriage and my affairs it was a very dark period of my life.

If I were you, I'd make sure that there aren't any simple physical causes such as yeast or UTI. Then, if the pain is still present, I'd ask you to question if you are suffereing any stress or depression and make the appropriate changes.

best of luck, Aisha

Was your partner also treated? Sometimes a man can have the infection with no symptoms...and reinfect you.

Also, try eating some yogurt. I know it sounds crazy, but yogurt has the same bacteria in it that your vagina does.....and it helps restore the natural balance of bacteria that prevents yeast infections.

If you have a bladder infection, there are usually more symptoms than just burning with urination. You will have frequent urination, and sometimes blood in the urine (it's not RED, but your urine will be dark, like coke).

If you do have a mild bladder infection, drinking lots of cranberry juice will get rid of it. Again, it sounds strange, but both these "remedies" were given to me years ago by my gyno......and they work!

If all else fails, try another doctor. There is a cause, and you need to find it.
