How Taboo Do You Think Toys Are?

  • I think most people use them, just don't admit it.
  • I think most people would like to give them a try.
  • I don't think they're taboo at all anymore.
  • I never thought they were considered taboo.
  • I think they are gaining more and more acceptance.
  • I don't think anyone should consider them taboo!
  • I think they are still pretty taboo.
  • Taboo enough that I don't want anyone to know I use them.
  • Absolutely taboo and kinky too!
  • Other, please explain ....

I voted "I think they are gaining more and more acceptance." In all honesty, though, I think many of those apply, as I think most people would like to give them a try and I personally never thought they were considered taboo, but at the same time, I wouldn't want family, neighbors, RL friends, pastor, etc., to know I use them. ;)

That's what I voted also.

I know when I was younger and first learned that sex toys even existed, the only way to get them was in the back of seedy stores. I think they were pretty taboo then, and I still think they're taboo among some.

I have a SIL who is about 15 years older than I am. We had a general conversation about sex toy parties a while back, and she definitely thinks of toys as taboo. I actually think that the toy parties are helping remove the taboos toward toys.

Not to mention that most of the sex toys you could find on the shelves of those seedy stores were pretty clearly designed by men. They were pretty phallic in nature, and tended towards the large and ridiculous. LOL

I think not only the toy parties, but also female owned and operated retail outlets like Babeland and GoodVibes have done a lot to remove the taboo, in conjunction with the work done by companies such as Fun Factory and Lelo to produce toys that actually work for women.

I voted "I don't think they're taboo at all anymore", but like Stephanie I thought many of the choices could apply.

Yeah, now you have some, like my sister's sil, who throw sex toy parties and invite all their girlfriends... in fact, she actually invited her MIL and her mil's MOTHER (85) to the party! LOL

I think they are gaining more acceptance because the media has been giving it attention off and on.

I've known people that say very judgmental things in the past, and I'm with you ~ I smile inside and think about what they're missing out on!
