We are new with toys and he is thinking of trying a c--k ring. They look so small in the package. Is it uncomfortable to wear? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Is he thinking of trying a jelly ring, a leather strap, or one of the metal rings? The metal rings do need to be sized appropriately for his package, taking into account not just how thick everything is but also how high or low his balls hang. The easiest way to measure is with a cloth tape measure around the base of the penis and testicles, then divide the measurement by 3.1. It's best to err on the side of slightly too large than too small, as it can be difficult to remove a ring that's too small afterwards. As long as the ring is sized appropriately it won't be at all uncomfortable for him to wear, and in fact is rather a pleasant sensation.

I think the type he was thinking about was the one that looks like jelly. We looked at some in a toy store but then weren't sure how to even get it on. Does it stretch out? Also, what is the main purpose and why is it pleasurable for the man? I know there is one that has a small vibrator attached for added pleasure for me. But what the whole thing would do for him wasn't obvious to us.
Like I said, we are new at this and I'm fairly new around here. I really appreciate the advice.

I know the jelly types of rings stretch quite far. For all the other types, I'll go along with Steve's recommendations -- he's much more familiar with them.

The jelly rings stretch out quite a bit, although just like the solid rings it should be put on before he gets hard. To put it on, he (or you) should stretch the ring with the index and ring fingers of both hands, bringing it underneath and behind the balls, then back toward his body, slowly allowing the tension to bind the area securely. For him the sensation is snug but not tight, and it will feel to him much like it would if you were gripping the base of his penis with your fingers. Because it restricts the flow of blood back out of the penis once it's entered, the ring will make his erection a little harder and allow it to last a little longer, if either of those is an issue.

DW and I have tried the jelly rings with the attached vibes, but we aren't big fans of them. She finds the vibrations from the bullet vibes to be quite wimpy relative to what she needs, so we've had better luck using a stainless steel ring for me coupled with a pocket rocket vibe on her clit.

The vibrating c-rings can be fun, and they are a great way to start introducing toys, but they don't usually pack a powerful punch. We found that in positions like WOT, they worked better at making contact with my clit.

Men actually do enjoy the vibrations as well, so that will be a new and fun sensation for him. C-rings are most used to help keep the blood into the penis. This results in a erection that is firmer and sometimes feels a bit larger than normal. Some c-rings are designed to include the balls in the package, others are not.

About metal vs. jelly/rubber, I would strongly advise getting a jelly or rubber one first to find out what size actually fits him best first. If you get a metal one that's too small, that could lead to an embarrasing emergency room visit. If you get a rubber ring that's too small, that can be taken care of at home with the careful use of scissors.

As for the size, I got a set of three that were different sizes. It's a good way to find out what the appropriate size is, and you'll likely end up with more than one that can fit him somewhere. For me, one fits around the base of the penis, another fits around the penis and balls, and the last one doesn't really fit anywhere...

I'm not a big fan of the tiny watch battery vibrators on rings, the kind they're now selling with condoms in drugstores. The vibration is barely noticeable. On the other hand, the larger vibes that use AA batteries they have on some rings are incredible. They're the power of a regular battery operated vibrator and they attach to his penis. He may end up wanting to use one of those on his own... One can bring me to orgasm if it's positioned correctly.
