They're Still in Your Bedroom ....

"Owner Ross Winner explained that he's "allowed to sell sex toys in his Love Stuff shops but only for medical or educational purposes". The devices must be kept in "a back room" and staff must must "ID everyone who enters and refuse sale to anyone who doesn’t fit the medical or educational criteria".

Alabama Supreme Court justices ruled
on Friday that said law is indeed constitutional, and that Hoover-based Love Stuff must continue to adhere to it."

Who's ready to pack up and move?

Such a silly law. In the end all it does is take dollars that would have been spent at local businesses like Mr. Winner's, where they would have contributed to the local economy, and redirect them to online vendors in other states such as goodvibes or babeland.

No doubt this law was written by a man with jealousy issues where toys are concerned.

I looked up an article on the Texas law that was overturned and it was only 1 1/2 years ago (time flies when you're having fun).

I wonder if the info you were looking at is up-to-date. I thought the last three states that ban the sale of toys was Mississippi, Texas and Alabama. I did find a link that lead to this. Perhaps they aren't considered obscene? I can see where they don't fit into that law, the way it's written .... I only say that because a quick search turns up several sex toy stores in the state.

Legal or not (to sell), it's good to know you can use them without being worried that your neighbors will report the latest buzz to the police, lol.

Now, it did appear that magazines like Playboy would be illegal. Never heard of that either. Do you know if they are available in stores there?

I never really read any of the other laws in their entirety (just what has been reprinted in news articles), but the Virginia law was pretty specific while still being rather vague, lol. It seemed like sex toys skipped the loop of items not allowed.

Aren't most sex toys considered novelty items, though?

"(3) Any obscene figure, object, article, instrument, novelty device, or recording or transcription used or intended to be used in disseminating any obscene song, ballad, words, or sounds; or"

They are ... but my interpretation is that they would have to "be used in disseminating any obscene song, ballad, words, or sounds;" ... so I guess you just keep the dirty talk and moaning down. Don't shake them during a rap song, and don't make up songs or poetry about them yourself ;-)

Oh, I don't think you're dim, at all.

I thought the law was really weird though. I read it a couple of times trying to make sense out if. Not really sure if I'm interpreting it correctly, but my interpretation definitely works for me, lol.
