Has anyone taken say a vibrator packed in a suitcase on an airplane?

I would definitely suggest separating the toy and the batteries, and if able, packing it in the bag you plan to check. That way, if there is a search, you're not there to actually see it or get embarrassed.

I don't think they'll ask for your DW. If they do, just think of something creative to say about why you're traveling with such companions, LOL.

I don't fly so I have no problem, I travel by car with toys.
