Metal as an Aphrodisiac?

My DH & I have been married for about 4 months now (living together for a year, dating for 3) and we had gotten to a point where we are comfortable. Getting married really isn't all *that* exciting when you have been living together for a while. Needless to say, we hadn't had sex for a week or so, I was feeling sick, then having my period, then he got sick and this when on for about 4-5 weeks (through Xmas and his birthday). We were tired, neither in the mood...etc.

We are a quiet couple, stay at home a lot. I garden, and cook and learn new sewing skill and he wood works and blacksmiths, a pretty quiet relaxed couple. We don't party, we love netflix, and have only a few very select friends. We never drink in public, too scary for me. I am always the "mom" of the group making sure all my friends have dinner and rides home at the end of an evening. I'm the "worrier" of my group. We like to read quietly or watch a nice documentary before bed. However, my DH has always loved heavy metal music (something he got from his harley riding father and his guitar playing mother).

So, a couple friend of ours took us to a heavy metal show in Baltimore as a birthday present to my metal head husband. I am not a metal gal. I like America and Art Garfunkel for God's sake. I went anyway. The music was so loud and all they did was SCREAM!!! For 6 hours we stood in front of one obnoxiously loud band after another, hotter than heck fire, with head banging and dread locks and drunken metal heads. At one point DH got pulled out into the mosh pit (he was kinda mad because he was shielding me from the moshers when it happened). My friend got knock down drunk, freaked out, and after the show we drove for an hour and a half home, ears ringing and head aching the whole way. We got home at 1:30 am.

The next few days we couldn't leave the house, our heads were throbbing and ears were ringing too badly. A girl like me would typically be ready to kill her husband for putting her through all that. Then we started randomly making out for no reason. Then tearing each other's clothes off. We were invading each others showers for sex, waking up several times in the middle of the night all over each other! He would grab me while I was making dinner, dropping forks and soda bottles to get me closer, it was crazy!

The whole time, our heads are pounding and generally we are both pretty sore from getting slammed buy the guys in the pit. It was just a crazy sexy free for all in my house, much to my surprise and delight. This is the kind of behavior we watched our single irresponsible partying friends do in high school, not us shy and reserved folks.

But I have to say, it was awesome! It was like everything I ever wanted to do as a teenager (go to concerts, listen to loud obnoxious music, get tipsy, stay out past midnight, make out and have crazy animal sex) finally coming true without having to feel bad, guilty, or irresponsible. It really was weird to relieve those teenage feelings that I never would have done in high school after so many year of repressing them (even through college).

It may sound weird, but I think Heavy Metal might just be an aphrodisiac. There is something about loosing your hearing for a few days that heightens your other senses. Or maybe its the hot breathing of all the people surrounding you at a show. Maybe it was my husband having to plant his feet, protecting me from idiots in the most pit. Whatever it was, it sparked that carnal desire to just take someone. We didn't even feel that strong desire after our wedding.

Needless to say we have tickets to the next death metal show. :-)

I was married Sept. 27, 2009 to the man of my dreams!

Sounds great! Glad it went well for you!

I love metal!

Was it someone local, or a well known band??

(go to concerts, listen to loud obnoxious music, get tipsy, stay out past midnight, make out and have crazy animal sex) ~ yes, good times, good times
