My cousin and her husband live in Savannah. It's 2 1/2 hours from U/us, so W/we're hoping to take a trip there one day. They love it there and keep raving about what a beautiful city it is.

They said that there are a lot of really nice shops and restaurants there (including Paula Deen's). If you go to the downtown area you can get away from the tourist traps. Apparently the city is a grid pattern and you can walk everywhere. You can also take a trolley tour, with a guide pointing out all the places of interest. There is a Civil War cemetery and also the cemetery featured on the cover of the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. You can also take a boat tour on the Savannah River.

I will say this "Paula Deen's" to me wasn't worth the money! sorry...the food wasn't that great! to stand in 'line' for almost 2 hours to get on a list to be called in and it was nosy you couldn't hear anything! on top of that I didn't care for the food that day...the only thing that was good was the apple pie! LOL!

I don't know if it is still there or not, but "WET WILLEY's" is a good place for a frozen drink......it is on the waterfront docks.....
