I think part of it is just peoples attitudes and reactions to their parents or friends getting a divorce and seeing the pain and anguish it causes. Many don't seem to fully understand the pain a divorce can cause, no matter how young/old the kids are or how long it's been. That's not to say single parents or different kinds of family makeups are less or unworthy, lord knows they deserve respect and support and admiration.
