Vascetomy ?

DH is getting a vascetomy in a few weeks. For those of you who have done this, how soon after could you resume sex again. I know there is a waiting period but was wondering how long you waited and if there were any complications.

If IC is out, can you do oral? Or is the point no ejaculation until the waiting period is over.

Thanks!

Honestly, I don't remember. My DH had a minor complication with his so he was a little more sore than normal. One of his tubes was twisted and they had to untwist it to get it out! But I'm thinking like 2 weeks, maybe, but even then he said it felt different. But that could have had something to do with his minor complication.

DH had one 17 years years ago and they recommended that he wait for the minimum of three days after surgery to resume intercourse.

DH had his in August. He had no interest b/c of fear of pain for about 3 weeks after. Didn't want me doing ANYTHING that would cause a reaction! LOL. I was afraid to be in the same room with him in case I inadvertently caused him to get an erection. The first time he orgasmed after the operation, he said it felt like a garden hose that someone had their finger over, kind of a rush and then a stop. Not painful though. It was well worth it though. I didn't realize I had subconscious fears of getting pregnant again, but feel much free-er now!

i think it took my a week, but i really don't remember, i know he was in pain for a few days and had to have an ice pack, I know for the first year he did have trouble with his erections, but he's doing fine now. Also make sure he definately gets checked out to make sure he's not producing any sperm. when my husband went back in he was making a couple of sperm, and then finally non, and he has been checked three times, one due to a pregnancy scare, but my period was just late. it's been two years and everything is back to normal. I would also do what the doctor says to do, to get the best results. Good Luck!

These are things you will have to ask the surgeon to get complete facts.

I went for a consult a few weeks ago and the doctor said no orgasms for a week. He also said they would need a sample 12 weeks after the surgery to check for sperm. The problem is that the sample can't be more than an hour old and it can take up to 45 minutes to get to his office. This is going to take some good planning, or maybe I should just use their restroom. I think that might make me a bit self-conscious, especially if there are kids in the office.

I had no problems; DW and I even went out for breakfast right afterwards (although I had to use that bag of frozen peas later that day). As I recall it was at least two months before DW went off BC. As for sex, we weren't having much back then, so I don't recall when we first had it afterwards.

Thanks everyone for your responses. DH is going for his consult next week and he will be asking these questions. I was just curious what your experiences were. We will definitely be using protection as I DO NOT want another baby.

Thanks!

Good luck!! I had a tubal done myself cause it was free, and if we'd gone with him doing it with the follow-ups and all it was going to be around $500!!!!! I must say though, that now that we don't have to worry about getting pregnant, our bedroom life is much better!!
