What do you think of Pat Robertson's secret to marriage?

There is a lot in the news this morning about comments he made in response to a wife asking how to get over her husband's infidelity.  According to him, women need to work at staying attractive and keeping their husbands sexually satisfied so they won't stray; but if they do, it's in their nature:

"Here's the secret," the famous evangelical said. "Stop talking the cheating. He cheated on you, well, he's a man."

The wife needs to focus on the reasons she married her spouse, he continued.

"Does he provide a home for you to live in," Robertson said. 'Does he provide food for you to eat? Does he provide clothes for you to wear? Is he nice to the children... Is he handsome?"

While I have to say that it is very important that both the man and woman in a relationship need to work at fulfilling each other's needs, in and out of bed, it doesn't just all fall on the wife to make it happen.  It also goes beyond providing basic necessities to how he treats you, and it goes both ways.

How important is it to you that your partner works at staying attractive and being available to you sexually?

I think it is good to focus on the positive. Many times, couples forget about their partner's strengths and get caught up with their weaknesses. Also, good relationships require ongoing effort. A marriage can't just be taken for granted. So, I think Pat Robertson has a point.

On the other hand, certain actions are unforgivable and should not be tolerated. Cheating falls in this catergory. A husband who is dissatisfied with his wife should speak up, but not go behind her back. So, I disagree with Pat Robertson here. BTW, this post is from a 50 y.o. married man.

I think he's full of crap! Sounds like a guy who is used to justifying his cheating behavior to his wife.

Pat Robertson is an idiot.  Don't listen to anything he says.
