Drugs? Should we go there?

I have been surprised to see a couple of recent threads here concerning (and subtlety promoting!) the use of illegal drugs as sexual enhancers.
Remember, these are the same boards that require us to use "proper" terminology when discussing body parts and don't allow us to post links to any sites which may include "offensive" material.
Believe me, I am far from being a prude, but I can't help but wonder whether this is a good thing.

It might be interesting to do a survey of how many of the activities described on this board are illegal, or were illegal, 10 or 20 years ago, in at least a few states. If the laws were enforced, I doubt many of us would still be free to post. Go back a few centuries, and a lot of us would probably be the weinies at the roast. Personally, in most circumstances, I'd rather spend a few nights in jail for taking a toke than let on that I've gone down on myself. But that's just me.
:)
To be clear, I was merely noting the juxtoposition between what is (in theory, anyway) not allowed on the boards vs. what apparently is being allowed.
It has been noted that the boards are supposed to be kept to a "PG" rating; I am not sure that subtle or not-so-subtle advocation of illegal drug use would fall into that category.
Let's see...we discuss in a fair amount of detail anal sex, 3 and more-somes, open relationships, oral techiques, use of sex toys, masturbation, cybersex, etc. Can't recall the last time I saw such topics covered to the extent they are here in a PG movie. However I have seen plenty of drug references in PG movies. I see no contradiction in this whatsoever. I would only see a moral issue - judgement. As argy pointed out, sodomy is still illegal in 13 states. Same sex activities in a few still. I am certainly not going to let lawmakers decide what I can and cannot discuss. And remember, discussion of a topic is not promotion.
Edited to state that I failed to recall that just 3 years ago the Supreme Court struck down sodomy laws as unconstituional, though just prior to it 12 states prohibited 'unnatural' acts between two people and 3 others had specific laws prohibiting homosexual sexual activity. Drug legalization debate has come to the surface again and I predict that in my lifetime we will see legalization in some states.

I really think you are missing my point. As I tried to indicate, first of all, I have no particular problem with discussing these things - I am merely surprised that the CL's are not only allowing them, but in at least one case, supporting them.
In case it has been forgotton, the iVillage TOS specifically states:
"You further agree not to use the iVillage Network to send or post on message boards or any place on the iVillage Network, any message or material of any kind or nature that is unlawful, harassing, libelous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, profane, sexually oriented (unless within the scope of the topic area of a message board as determined by iVillage in its sole discretion), racially offensive, inaccurate, or otherwise objectionable material or that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation, or encourage the use of controlled substances. For purposes of the immediately preceding sentence, "masked" vulgarity, obscenity or profanity (e.g. "f*ck") is deemed to be equivalent to including the actual objectionable word, phrase or symbol in your post, message or otherwise on the iVillage Network. iVillage reserves the right to delete any such material from the iVillage Network. iVillage will cooperate fully with any law enforcement officials and/or agencies in the investigation of any person or persons who violate the Terms of Service contained in this Section 6."
Notice the, "or encourage the use of controlled substances" in the middle?
Good.......................Morning my fellow tabooers!!!!! I'd just like to step in and inform some that there are several
I don't use drugs and never will but I know plenty of people who have and still do, and being that it was spoken of in the scope of use during sex I beleive brings it within the scope of the board. But I think if someone says "I did it and it was fun" it is not neccesarily condoning it, whereas "You should try it" definatly way out of line.
And as a side note to CL-LM. Love that comment about keeping things PG-13 so we don't sound like 13 year olds... so true!

>> Like all topics here, I suggest if it makes you uncomfortable, don't read it. <<
Sheesh! Enough already!
I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DISCUSSION OF DRUGS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!
I was simply questioning whether the discussions (and poll) fall within the TOS.
>> Furthere more, this is NOT a debate board. <<
That's downright silly; half the discussions here take the form of some sort of debate. Conversation, by it's very nature, *is* debate.
cl-littlemascara, I propose that a poll titled "Have you ever used drugs to enhance sex" is highly suggestive of the positive benefits of drug use. Furthermore, I suggest that the phrase "but there is nothing like sex on Ecstacy" (http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-rltaboos&msg=5349.25&x=y), just to pick out one, could certainly be in violation of the previously quoted TOS.
Here I am, a mature adult male who clearly believes in having his share of fun, trying to point out that we have possibly entered a danger zone and I seem to be the one catching the flak. Will wonders never cease?
