Interesting article, lilmascara. I've read about Zestra before, and really liked the fact that it was an all natural approach to increasing the female sexual response. Some of the oils that Zestra contains are also available in capsule form and are used as vitamin/nutritional supplementation. I normally take a capsule of borage and evening primrose oil along with my multi-vitamin complex everyday. They both help with the regulation of the female hormones and help ease symptoms of PMS, and from that article you presented about Zestra, it seems that they may just help with increasing sexual desire in females. Who knows, maybe all this time I've been helping to maintain my sex drive with supplements I take for my physical well-being. Interesting indeed.
Your sex drive comes back when you "forget to take them", but does your depression come back also? If not, I don't see a problem. Why isn't this something more people know about? I know lots of high libido women who take AD's and their sex drive is gone. Do you have your doctor's blessing to do this or is it just something you discovered on your own?
Just curious as, like I said, I have friends who could use some advice.
I'm a lurker but I had to respond. I also played russian rolet with my anti-depressant, Wellbutrin, I ended up having servere withdrawal symptons - and acted out at work. I ended up on a 5 week forced leave time and am now trying to deal with the repercussions. Stopping an anti-depressant can trigger a several bout of depression that can lead to suicidal thoughts. Talking about killing your sex life (sorry I had to - I do have a sick mind - I love this site - for some reason I've always been into anal.)
Granted I'm taking a controlled dosage (450 mg) but I don't recommend playing with your anti-depressants. Just a note since prozac lingers in your system up to 30 days once you quit those taking it don't experience that bast of emotions. That's actully one of the reasons I thought it was OK to play around with them - once they switched meds on me - WHOA the world almost crashed and burned.
Just another note - alot of us seem to be on antidepressants - do you think there's a link between our interest for what some may think is "Taboo"? Just a thought - seems I'm bipolar and complusive/obsessive (and a terrible speller) with ADD throw in. I've always had a high sex drive and been interested in what some may see as taboo.
AD can so ruin your sex drive. Prozac is the number one anti-sex drive drug - I have a friend that was into a really dangerious relationship with a syco male. But since the sex was so unbelieveable she'd leave and come back to him on a regular basis. The only thing that finally cured her was going on prozac. It helped her break the cycle - she stayed on it for 18 months.
I speak from experience (and it's been well documented) that it can kill your sex drive. Also the ablity to "O" can be non-extistent, can take forever or can dull and reduce the "O". I'm not sure if it's all the meds fault but my "O" (since they finally returned on Wellburtin) are not anything like they were before. Now it's VERY mild and feels like it never really happens (I know it sounds strange - but I don't know how to explain it). There are other factors in my case that may be contrubting to this but I know that the medicine has some bearing on it.
