I just tell 'em like it is -- I didn't feel like getting out of bed so I'm like what? 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes late? There was a wreck and I either picked the wrong way or decided to just sit and wait it out. I was up with the baby last night and you didn't want me here on time after that. I knew there was nothing big going on this morning so I decided to sleep in..........
I bet that have been many many times living in NJ that I have been late because of traffic. There is almost always traffic no matter what time of day. You just get used to it and it is always taking into consideration when going anywhere out there.
Like the others I always tell my bosses the truth about why I'm late. Over the years there have been many excuses. - My child threw up in the car. - The dog ran off and we had to find him. - My son got extremely clingy at the daycare center door - I locked my car keys in the house. - The car battery was dead and I had to call AAA. - I skidded off the road on an icy day. - I had a fender bender with an uninsured illegal immigrant. - My husband accidentally took both his and my set of car keys. - We had a blackout and the alarm didn't ring.
But the most far fetched one, but true...the secret service closed a small country road in upstate NY and I had to sit and wait. Vice President Cheney was attending an early morning hunt club event in my neighborhood.

OMG...Cheney hunting in NY? I bet the Clintons were laying low that day. LMAO
Outrageous reason? Well I don't have one but my mom did.
Her boyfriend (at the time) surprised her with a trip to ALASKA for breakfast and while taking off? It was foggy so, they were delayed. He was the vice president of Penzoil oil company at the time.

Pretty good excuse I'd say.
