HI everyone

I find it interesting that although we have our strong views on what we like ,what we do, and what we dont,, we still have a religion that we fall back on.

It would be fun to see how many different religions we have represented on this board through the members.

Please do mention along with which faith you belong to, how you have felt it affect what you do / dont do in bed or along the taboo lines.

"we still have a religion that we fall back on..."
"Please do mention along with which faith you belong to..."

Not everyone has a religion or a faith to fall back on. I'm a secular humanist:

"Humanism entails a commitment to the search for truth and morality through human means in support of human interests. In focusing on the capacity for self-determination, humanism rejects transcendental justifications, such as a dependence on faith, the supernatural, or divinely revealed texts. Humanists endorse universal morality based on the commonality of human nature, suggesting that solutions to our social and cultural problems cannot be parochial."

"In Civilization and Its Discontents, Freud argued that civilization is founded on the repression of instincts. It now seems clear that one of those instincts leads us away from monogamy. Whether we choose to follow, on the other hand, is up to us."
-Dr. David P. Barash and Dr. Judith Eve Lipton,
"The Myth of Monogamy"

I was raised in the Catholic church and went to Catholic grade school; but toward the end of high school I stopped "practicing" as a Catholic and began to explore other organized religions and churches.

I've attended church services at Catholics, Southern Baptists, Presbyterian, Methodist, Pentecostal, Church of Christ, Church of God, Church of Latter-Day Saints (Morman), and even Greek Orthodox.

I have long considered myself somewhat agnostic...I certainly believe in God but have serious doubts about the validity of the Bible, and have serious problems with much of the dogma that saddles most of the organized religions/churches.

I see a strong contridictions to what most people preach from the Bible in the way of being forgiving and accepting, but yet they have an amazing sense of intolerance to anyone who does not believe exactly as they do.

Religion is somewhat a touchy subject for me, and I am constantly trying to understand more about what my beliefs are and what my faith holds. And I'm still not sure.
However, I have been attending church over the past couple of years with my wife (she grew up in the Church of Christ), and I've had some good discussions with many of the people at that church. Our kids love the church and we have met some really nice folks there, and for the most part, none of them have been judgemental or condescending towards me regarding the fact that I don't believe the same way they do.

Christian faith that is strong, but do not go to church...and this is one of the reasons - that I do not want that kind of impact in my life...telling me what I can and cannot do in my bed.

"You would not have cracked a joke about a Southern Baptist, would you?"

Naughtygirl, forgive me please, but this caught my funny bone because everybody makes jokes about Southern Baptists - even Southern Baptists!
