So...the Detroit Red Wings won 'em another Stanley Cup last night against the Pittsburg Penguins!!!!! And in Celebration, I thought we could enjoy Nicklas Lidstrom, their team Captain.

Just after the win:

And all dressed up in a suit:

LOL....yes there are many reasons to hate the wings...this is their 11th cup...however how can I (of all people) not root for a team that has 7 Swedes on it? lol ~wicked grin~

The Pens fought hard though, I think what it came down to was experience. The wings have a much older team, I mean Lindstrom has been with them for 15 years, won 4 cups with them and gained the MVP nod twice, plus they have Dominik Hasek, who, for my money is one of the best goaltenders in the league. THe Pens players don't have nearly as much experience as team, and I think thats why they got beat.

Ah, so you're a Hawks fan..ok...so now I understand the hatred ~smile~

Balfore and Roy are really in a league of their own as far as goaltenders go, however I've always just had a liking for Hasek. I love to watch him play, he has an intensity that I like to see in someone playing that position. As for the Wings, they have several players that I really enjoy and have followed for a long time. Nick Lindstrom being one of them, as a defenseman, he's one of my favorites. Henrik Zetterburg is also a stellar player I enjoy watching.

Our Carolina team really went down the tubes after our Cup run several years back. We lost alot of decent player after the strike and they just never recovered. I hate to be a "fair weather fan" but they're just not fun to watch anymore. Even now, they just always seem defeated to me.

many teams went down the tubes over the years and just now they are starting to get a little more of a rally from the fans, and in my belief that chicago has a lot to do with that by bringing in a lot more fans due to the changing of the management.

I know exactly what you mean. Carolina games aren't televised either. When we ran for the cup, everyone around here was all about hockey, it was insane. It was huge for us to get that far. Rod Brind'Amour was at the top of his game and Arturs Urbe was holding down the goaltending duties pretty well. However after that, and the strike, people jsut didn't care anymore. We didn't even make it to the first round of the playoff after that and suddenly to everyone in the state hockey wasn't a big deal. It's like if they couldn't win, no one wanted to watch them. Plus they went through coach and management changes that killed them coupled with losing guys that like Jeff O'Neill who really played the season of his life during that playoff year. I think the lack of interest and excitment has really affected the team on a lot of levels.

Now, I will definatly agree about Joseph, when I was younger, he was one of

i recall watching whatever vancouver can i could when i knew that joseph was in the pipes.

Now that sounds like a heck of a player, but hockey players (mostly) are like that playing with broken fingers toes injuries etc just to keep it going.
