I have both of mine done and haven't lost any sensation. However they were very finicky with healing. They were prone to infection at first, but now they are all good. It took a few months (and a few infections) to fully heal. I've had them for about 6 years or so. However being male, I can not speak for what will happen with ladies nipples.

Matt, I have always wanted to do this, just haven't had the gutts. Do you think a woman would be more prone to infection because most of the time she has to have the nipple covered? Did you ever figure out what

The majority of the time it will increase sensitivity, it did for me. If your nipples are already sensitive, stimulation with the piercings can sometimes be too much for your average woman (unless you're into that type of thing ~wicked grin~)

i was told that if you really wanted them pierced to try a set of nipple clamps.. they have some metal clamps they say are pretty tight....... then if that is something you can handle then go and get them done.

wow......... i was told to wear the clips all day and if i could handle that then i could handle getting them pierced. I have thought about it to. Dh would love it. And i have worn the clips a full two days non stop......but then i needed a brake but I have decided that if I need that pleasure I would just wear the clamps when needed or "told to"....:) Good luck and let me know what you decide.

A couple things to note...while the piercing in and of itself is very painful, the pain doesn't go away once the needle is out....they can be sore for several months afterwards. Especially if you get them done during the warmer months. Sweating in the heat can cause bacteria to get into the piercings, and most folks don't have time to clean them several times a day, so this causes you to be more prone to infections. Which can be pretty gross depending on the severity. This happened to a friend of mine, hers took 5 months to completely heal. I got mine done in winter, and they were healed within a month/ month and a half, but I took extra good care of them. The clamps are a good idea, but its a different kind of pain with the piercings and its not nessicarly a good idea to wear clamps for several days in a row, it can deaden the nerves and cause desensitization.

something good to keep in mind. Your right it takes time to heal if the piercing does get done. However......my escapade with the clamps were not by choice... that was done by orders and of course some precautions were taken....

Precautions are always good...Odin knows DH spends a ton of time planning out things to ensure no lasting harm is done to me. He's learned down to the minute how long he can hang me from the wall before all the blood rushes from my arms LOL

Forget the nipple clamp thing, that will feel nothing like an acutal piercing. I had both of mine pierced about 2 years ago, it increased sensation 10 fold! As for infection, if you soak twice daily (I used dixie cups) with non iodized sea salt and water as hot as you can stand bacteria doesn't stand a chance. Be sure to wash with antibacterial soap once a day and you will have it aced! If you want it done don't be afraid of the pain or the healing process. The pain is very quick and the healing process if managed carefully was far easier than any of my tattoos.
