Ok...if a corset fits properly the boning shouldnt cut into your hips at the bottom, the bottome should lie flat against your body. Alot of times ladies willl assume the laces in the back should be evenly spaced when tightened, not true. they should be tighter in the middle where the waist is and make an hourglass shape to allow extra room for your breasts and hips, so you may have had it laced incorrectly. It really helps to have a friend or your lover help you lace it up if you can. After a while you'll get used to it and it'll be easier to do yourself. In my experience it's better to pay a little more for a better corset. The boning in cheap ones tends to bend and can often poke out of the fabric, which is no fun. While not very PC whale boning is really the best, though most you find nowadays are steel boned.
Corsets are for everyone plus sized ladies included! I find its always a good idea to go to a store and have the sales lady help you try on different styles. Everyone will find a certain style more comfortable and suited to them based on their body type. This way you can find out what works best for you. Also its good to let the sales person take your measurments if they can and you feel comfortable. Then they can tell you what size to get. Often folks end up with a corset thats too small, and that can cause the boning to cut into you.Sometimes a waist cincher is best, sometimes a full bodied victorian style, sometimes a more modern style. Theres lots to choose from. If you're not looking to spend a wad of cash Fredricks of Hollywood had a myriad of corsets in their online shop. I have a couple satin ones from there. They're
The best corset suppliers are in the UK — they never stopped making them there. vollers-corsets(dot)com is one good outlet. They do make to measure, and have good info on their website on how to take your measurements.
ETA: Sorry Moon, I'm spacing this morning. I meant to post this to the OP, not to you.
