Reading the Submission thread has given me an idea...

A lot of books were discussed in that thread that I'd never heard of (the Story of O was the only one I knew).

I don't read fiction very often - I love autobiographies, non-fiction

I read alot of non-fiction as well, history, mythology and more esoteric texts...since your reading the book about the Cree Medicine man you would really enjoy a book called "Northern Mysteries and Magick" by an author named Freya Aswynn. It focuses in on the more shamanistic practices of the Norse, which deal almost exclusivly with feminine energy.

Hi Moon! The Story of O (L'Histoire d'O) was written and published under the name of Pauline Réage. It was the pseudonyme of Dominique Aury, whose real name was Anne Desclos. Not only is it a fascinating story, the author was a fascinating woman.

Read it in French, it's much better. It is very difficult to translate well, this book.

Delta of Venus by Anais Nin is some of the best erotica written, in my opinion, as is Nin's

Little Birds
.

One of the authors I have become quite fond of lately is Haruki Murakami - The Windup Bird Chronicles amazed me, and I haven't been disappointed by anything else he has written.

Hi Nenu,

I did know that "L'Histoire d'O" was originally from the French.

Give it a try. It is beautifully written - limpid would be the term, but when I read it again recently, I kept thinking "How in the world would this be translated?". I would love to take a crack at translating it myself, simply because it would be difficult and a challenge.

Oh and if you do get it from the library don't bother trying to read the preface written by Jean Paulhan, if it is included - it is dense and unreadable, and Pauline Réage herself said she didn't understand what he was talking about in it, lol.

She sure is..Freya is a Goddess of the Vanir, the fertility gods. She is the goddess of love and beauty. She is also the one who taught Odin how to use Seid majick.
