Reading the Submission thread has given me an idea...

A lot of books were discussed in that thread that I'd never heard of (the Story of O was the only one I knew).

from what i understand is that a lot of dominant or alpha people who are in the lifestyle are geared to the sub role.

~ Last year I received a kidney transplant from my older brother from another state. I'm glad and thankful the operation as a success. Just don't tell him that now i have 3!!!

I can also get into a cycle of reading all of an author's works - or - all of the books I can find on a particular subject.

This is very true...my DH is very quiet, mysterious, he kind of sits back and watches others, but in the bedroom he does a complete 180...me on the other hand...I'm outgoing, take care of everything that needs to be taken care of etc...it is a huge release to let go of everything and be completely vulnerable...even though technically I really do have all the power, the illusion of helplessness it creates is abosulty sublime..I'm just hard wired this way...but i wouldnt change it for the world

Well this is very true. There are tons of negative stigmas that surround it and in general it is just misunderstood. Alot of people I run into (particularly my mother) will brand it as abusive behavoir. They believe the abuse is directed at the sub, well its just not the case, should the sub ever want to stop its as simple as saying one word. Unfortunatly there are folks out there who do not practice BDSM in a safe fashion, and that is abuse.

i would tend to agree with you that not practiced in a safe fashion would be abuse.

I have never used our safe word, there may come a day when I need it, but the trust is there, so I don't really worry about things. There are many things in society that have a negative stigma around them, moreso here than other places in the world. We seem to be alot more closed off and less accepting of things that alot fo other places.

I have a few collections going...if I like a writer I want to put their books on my sagging bookcase.

John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Ann Rivers Siddons, Andrew Greeley, Ann Rule.....they line my shelves....

Then there is the Tim Green thing....it really has little to do with his talent as an author...

The book jackets are rather nice to have about.....
