I actually wondered if they were speaking a traditional language. it seemed very real. And the way they worked that scene was definitely really well done.
I didn't know it was a book. i will have to have a look for it.
There is Old Norse, Old Norwegian and then modern Norwegian. The Modern Norwegian is broken down in Balkmal and Norsk..Norsk being the most widely recognized and Balkmal being the tradtional written form of the language. It's more akin to the old Norwegian...which has closer ties to Swedish than to the Old Norse. (there were was Eastern Norse which became Norwegian and Icelandic and Western Norse which is a little more cloesly related to Russian and formed Swedish and Finnish languages) Icelandic and Faroes (a cultural dialect only spoken in the Faroes Islands) are the closest 'living' languages to old Norse, but it's my understanding the director used the old Norwegian because it was easier for the actors with it being alot closer to Balkmal.
Ok...I am a total nerd...

Well I must be a total nerd myself then, because i really enjoyed reading that lesson of northern european languages and cultures. yes. I definitely think brains are very very sexy. lol
Nothing exciting happened for me today. I got in to work at 6am, out at 4:45pm. I am going to start doing some earlier (than usual) hours at work. I was covering for someone today, that's why I was there so early. That will be good. Early in means early out.
I have a peach dessert class tomorrow, that should be interesting. But I'll have to rush out, get home to take a nap so that I can get to work that evening.
